Remarks

I took the entrance exam WBJEE . Got my admission in CSE course through WBJEE(2023) counselling. Application details are provided in official website of WBJEE. Cutoff for CSE was 237262 for session 2023-2027. Candidates applying must have passed 10+2 from recognised institution with compulsory PHYSICS and MATHEMATICS and 45% aggregate marks.

Course Curriculum Overview

I opted for CSE as in this AI era, computer science offers career opportunities in cybersecurity, software engineering, and data analysis which offer great opportunities in growth due to high demand. For each subject in my department atleast two teachers are assigned, having PHD and M.Tech degree. The lab teachers are well experienced and provide good guidance. A student can approach any teacher for their doubts without hesitation.

Internships Opportunities

TCS, CTS, IBM, Wipro, Infosys and TCG Life sciences provide internship opportunities for the students. Besides companies like Flipkart and Amazon also offer internships.. Apart from that students are also trainedby various Government and private organizations and institutions such as BSNL, Indian Railways, VECC, HUL, NOKIA, Airport Authority of India, Albert David limited, Emami limited etc.

Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th year ( from 6th semester). TCS, CTS, IBM, Wipro, Infotech, INFOSYS and TCG life sciences are the major recruiters. Other recruiter are Amazon, Capgemini etc. Highest package 20LPA whereas average package is of 3LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost for entire 4years course(8 semesters) is INR 499800, i.e., each semester is approximately INR 62000. Students avail various scholarships including SVMCM of WEST BENGAL, PMSS scheme and various other private scholarships.

Campus Life

Bengal Institute of Technology organizes a two-day long Cultural fest namely - IMPULSE with a number of participants from different colleges, the Tech fest : Bits-2-Bytes is a festival of technology, science, knowledge, skills and colours. Aeromodelling, drone event and robotics event are part of the tech fest. Coding club, Robotics club and Sabbit are the official tech clubs of the college. Photography club is also present. The college library provides a huge range of study materials from different authors and publishers for the students. There are both indoor and outdoor games. Intra and Inter college sports events of Football, cricket etc are also organized.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
