Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is nice here. I as a first-year student here get ample amount of free time to pursue all the side hustles like coding and all. The classes are very well organised and being an autonomous college all the topics asked in the semester exams are those already taught in their classes so there is less pressure during semester exams (given you are attending the classes well). The faculty here are very experienced. Of course, some students can connect with some teachers' teaching way more than others but all teachers are always available for any kind of academic help.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a government college the fees are very minimal, 15 - 17 thousand per year for Non-Core departments and under 26 thousand for Core departments. There are also many scholarship opportunities for the students like the SVMCM Scholarship for the students. The teachers and students make the students aware of different scholarships and how to avail them.
Campus Life
Campus Life is undeniably one of the most memorable parts of college life. JGEC has a large campus, a lot to explore, the biggest Cultural fest in North Bengal, JECLAT and the best techno-management fest, Sritsti, in North Bengal. We have a big central library and the hostels also have their library. There are many clubs in our college, Academic Clubs like GDSC, Coders Club, Entrepreneurship and Development Cell, etc. Social Clubs like Singing Club, Dancing Club, Trekking Club, Magazine Club etc.
Admission
Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is one of the best State Government colleges in West Bengal. To get admission to this college, the student must appear in the WBJEE exam. It is to be noted that only the students who are the permanent resident of West Bengal, that is those with a domicile certificate, can get admission.
