The Okayest College

It definitely is one of the best colleges in Mumbai, except of course IIT. The crowd and atmosphere here is really encouraging. Although there is a lack of concentration on academics in a certain department, but overall it has been a good experience.

Had given the Jee Mains, which I fortunately cleared. KJ Somaiya was a good choice. I had to give up my preferred stream but I liked the crowd and campus so I didnt hesitate much. I'm currently studying electronics in KJSCE, not my first choice, but since its a core subject I have better options in Masters

Electronics is really not everyone's cup of tea. You have to really be into Electronics as a course to actually score well, and to pursue it further. Practical learning is weak, at least in our department. But we do have good elective options and I'm looking forward to my 6th semester where i can learn a new interdisciplinary course

The college does provide inhouse department internship and also has a unique internship cell to help students get internships. As far as I know, Inhouse Internships aren't paid.

Annual Cultural, technical and sports fests happen every year. The footfall is huge for each of them ( specially the sports fest because it is a national event). Except this, there is another event called Maker Mela that happens each year. It saw a huge footfall of about 50,000 last year, and is basically a tech event fused with cultural aspects.

KJSCE has much higher fee compared to all other colleges(in mumbai) in the same league. I paid around 140k in FY and 160k in SY.

All government induced scholarships are available at the college. Except that, the college also provides 2 seperate scholarships for oustanding students.

The best part about this college is the freedom for extracurricular activities. There are a lot of teams for each art form like dance, drama, music. I am a part of the Music team and I love all the events that happen and it has been a great experience

The Hostels are good compared to other colleges. As I am not staying in the college hostel, I dont know much, but I do eat in the Hostel mess at times and the food is really great. The only problem is there's no Non-vegetarian food available anywhere in the campus

There is a seperate Alumni Cell, that conducts events and gatherings for the current students as well as alumni.

The college timings are too long, and its not the case only with KJ, But with all the engineering colleges in India. There are too many subjects and too much pressure to complete the syllabus.

The Experience and qualification of Electronics department faculty is really appreciable. The only problem is, although they have the qualifications and have been teaching for years, they still don't know how to evoke interest in a subject, and this is why a lot of students bunk.
