Remarks

Overall, it was great . The four years proved to be a good learning experience. Managing studies and extra curriculars was something that I learnt quite well.

Entrance Preview

I had answered the Wbjee exam with a rank of around 3000. There wasn't any interview process. I am pursuing Electronics and communication engg.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course of quite diverse. Includes core subjects as well as IT. The college funds any research initiatives taken up and has IEEE and ISHRAE clubs as well.

Internships Opportunities

The college does provide a training in the 4th year. Internships have to be looked for by the students on their own. The college does provide referrals.

Placement Experience

The placement scenario is good enough with 95% of the batch getting placed. The average package was 3.5 lpa. Companies like TCS, CTS, NRI Fintech, Directi, Adobe visit the campus.

College Events

There is an annual Cultural and techno-management fest with a footfall of 2000 each. The college authorities do support extra curricular activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees per semester is INR 40,000. The course fee for 4 years comes down to 3.2 lakhs for the tuition fees. Fooding and lodging in Kolkata is cheap enough.

I reside in the hostel. The rooms are 3-4 seater and the food is fine. The fess is INR 69,000.

The college has a strong alumni network with students going abroad and IITs and IIMs for post-graduation as well.

Exam Structure

The semesters are conducted by WBUT and the practicals are fine. The class schedule is a bit hectic.The timings are from 9-4 with a 40 min break. The college does support many extra curricular activities as well.

The faculty is quite experienced with professors from IITs and NITs as well. They do clear doubts well. You can conduct research papers also under them.They support IEEE papers and have conferences as well.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Well other than that I definitely put Techno Main , Heritage Institute of Technology, Jalpaiguri Government, kalyani Government and Haldia Institute of Technology too . But the rank didn't allow me to get my desired branch that is CSE in kalyani and jalpaiguri, so I had to close from the private ones and if you have to pick the best one in Kolkata which was also not far waya from my hometown , definitely you choose IEM , as it definately has a good placement track record and good curriculum. Well you can get into this college through WBJEE(which they didn't took this year ) , IEMJEE and direct admission too . But direct admission requires some extra donation amounts too . So I take admission through WBJEE in IEM KOLKATA in B.tech in electrical engineering. So now I talked about eligibility criteria:- You should pass your +2 from any board with a maximum of 60% Admission in this college is 3 types WBJEE, JEE MAIN, IEMJEE all three forms you will get notified by college dunia if you have an account in it. So the IEM KOLKATA is one of the best private colleges in Kolkata and you can say in India also so the cuttoff goes very high you have to get minimum rank for this college.
