Likes

Guards. In Indian institute of technology Kharagpur Guards are very polite.
The campus is very big and pretty and I am in love with the greenery present here.
The teachers are good and very talented. They help us clear our doubts in any case.

Dislikes

Very huge crowd since KGP holds a population of around 16K people.
Mess food is not that good. You mostly have to starve yourself or eat outside
The weather here is very hot and humid. It starts raining at any time.

I really love finance and economics that's why I chose a bachelor of science course rather than a bachelor of technology course. The faculties of this course are exceptionally talented and teaches in a creative way.

Internships Opportunities

There is a process called career development centre in 5th semester of college where students with cg above a threshold cab apply for internships and get shortlisted on the basis of their talent.The companies that come here are good .

Placement Experience

Placements are the sexiest thing about my college. Placements are the only thing our youth target for. Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Jane Street, Goldman Sachs are the companies, which offer placements around 1 CR per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

Including semester fees, along with mess and hostel charges and some other extra charges, The fees add up to 3 lakhs per year.Also, if your parents income is less than one lakh per annum, your semester fees are waived.

Campus Life

The life at campus is pretty good. Kshitij,the annual techno management fest, is one of the largest in asia.also, spring fest, the annual social and cultural fest,promotes art, music, culture and nurtures talent among youth.

Hostel Facilities

My hostel name is Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall Of Residence,and it is one of the largest hall in asia. Mess menu is only good enough to live and not extraordinary. Three students live in a room. Also, there is no lift.

Hostel Fee: INR 54000 per year

Admission

One has to qualify JEE(JOINT ENTRANCE EXAM) Mains and Joint Entrance Exam Advanced respectively. Also, one has to obtain at least 75 percent of the total grade in the class twelwth to be eligible for the entrance exam.

Placement Experience:

For placement and internship we have CCD ( Career development center ) and it ensure that students are getting all the opportunities for interview with top companies like Microsoft, google, Goldman Sache amazon and so on. students can apply for internship in 5th semester and can sit for placement in their 8th semester, other than campus placement students can apply anywhere for off campus placement if they are meeting thier crieteria.

Placements in the campus are good. Most of the tech companies allow all the branches to sit for the tests. Eligibility criterial for many companies is around 7 CGPA. The average package is around 15 LPA. 90%of registered students get placed

I choose my course that chemistry because of the fact that I had got the rank that came under it and another reason is chemistry department is quite old here even if kanpur chemistry department is better for core, you will get chance for non core too here. Courses now deal more on chemistry related stuff. No need for course improvement Frequency is near end and mid sem there will be exams mode

Life at IIT KGP

Placement Experience:

The placement is good in IIT KGP in comparison to other colleges. People are eligible to sit for placements in their fourth year can sit for placements through CDC. The placements are held in two phases. In session 24-25, we have seen 1000+ offers to students in first phase. After getting degree, I would also go for doing job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course for the first year is easy overall , maybe challenging for biology students because involvement of Maths in the curriculum but they can decrease their load by practicing Maths problems, asking doubts, approaching the instructors or their personal mentors. Otherwise the course is mixed in a good way with theoretical and practical part. Labs are conducted of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and CS in first year. You can choose CS as an minor in higher classes.

Placement Experience:

It's a research Institute so no one really thinks about placements but still there's a placement cell in college and it tries it's best get as many company as they can... Placements are decent in chemistry maths and biology

IIT KHARGPUR- WORTH IT?

Placement Experience:

from 7th semester (for btech students), 9th semester (for dual degree students) students are eligible for campus placements. there are numerous companies which visit the campus...and generally nearly all students get placed during the placement season, but recently there has been recession and companies are not taking less number of the students than they usually do.
