VIT Chennai - College Review

There is healthy faculty to student ratio in VIT. It is about 1:10 and all the faculty is supportive and have research background. Talking about the qualification of faculties every faculty have Phd from reputed institutes. Exams are timely and they are easy to pass, it is not very difficult to become 9 pointer here. I choose this couse because I have interst in both electronics and computer and I found this course a sweet corner for me.

There are lot internship opportunities are available here in VIT. Student of 2nd and 3rd year are eligible for internships. Lot of big companies like Microsoft PayPal visits college for interns with a stipend of around 1l.

The placement opportunites here in VIT are ample. There is centralised placement system for the vellore and chennai campus. Students are eligible for campus placements form the 7th semester. Around 700 companies visted this year and 12018 offers have been made with an average package of 13lpa and median package of around 9lpa and almost there is 100% placement rate here with a higest package of 1.05cr. I myself will be sitting for placemrnts.

There is a fee category system in VIT which is i.e. fees is totaly depend on the category in which you take admission based on your rank in VITEEE exam. The fees in 1st category is around 2L and in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th category it is 3L, 4L, 4.5L, 5L respectively. Fees will remain same for you through out the 4 years. They do hike the fees but not for the students who already are studying. There are some scholarships availabe here based on the 12th board marks and VITEEE rank. Placement in VIT is fairly good wit average package of around 13LPA and median Package is around 9LPA.

The campus life in VIT is fairly good. The size of the campus is around 192 acres and also there is lot of greenary and food park and Dominos here. But there is one problem you can't go outside the campus for the first semester. The Annual Tech fest is Techno VIT and it is conducted in the month of October and the annual cultural fest is called Vibrance and it is coducted in the month of March. The Library in VIT is huge with 65k+ books and 2.5k+ journals. The Sports fascility is very good here there is seprate gound here for alomost every sports and the swimming pool and gym in each hostel too. There are around 150+clubs in VIT all of them are run by students som of them are technical and some are cultural club.

Hostels in VIT is good. There are 6, 4, 3, 2 bedded ac/non ac rooms availabe here. You are provided with a bed table achir and cupboard in your room. The washrooms are claen equipped with a gyser. And there RO filters installed in each floor with warm normal and cold water. But food in mess is not good, it is just below average. Hostel councelling will happen after you taken admission where you have to choose type of room and mess( veg, non veg and special). The Hostels here are bit costly as compared to government institutions. For the First year it is mandatory for you to take hostel if you are not from Chennai.

To get admission in VIT Chennai campus one needs to give VITEEE exam which happen every year in the month of april and may. Application procedure generally starts from the month of november and goes till the the month of march. Application form is avialable in their official website viteee.ac.in with a fees of 1350 rupees. One can go to this web site and fill the application form. Talking about the reservation, there is no reservation in the college. The admission is completely based on the rank you scored in the VITEEE exam. To get a seat in Chennai campus ECM branch in category 1 one need to get rank under 21000 in VITEEE and for category one needs to get atleast 50000 rank in VITEEE. Benefits I that would like to see in admission procedure is more transparancy in results of VITEEE as they don't give any answer key or marks scored they directly releases the rank.
