Remarks

First you have pcm stream in class 12 and then wbjee and this college is only for west bengal students with domicile certificate of this state and you have 60 percentage marks in class 12 and other state students does not this college

Course Curriculum Overview

I didn't choose the course the course is according to their rank in wbjee exam and the students faculty ratio is 10 faculty to 63 students the faculty have qualified m.tech or p.hd degree the faculty are very helpful

Class Size: 67Course Fees: INR 10000 per year

Placement Experience

After 6th semester you are eligible for placement to get job. But some company recruit high ygpa students and the highest package is 63 lpa and the average package is 10 lpa and upto 90 percent students get placed from all branches

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of this is college is very low and every one get efforts this college and every one get hostel where fees is low you only pay the meals fees and hostel rent is zero and you will get svmcm and you will also get alumini scholarship

This college has annual cultural fest JECLET and this college has annual tech fest is SRISTI and their are many active clubs are CFI, NSS JGEC, JYOTI: A RAY, CODER CLUB, AZANTRIK, WAVEZZ,SPORTS CLUB,JOLU CLUB

Hostel Facilities

The room is little bit unhygienic but you will manage it after sometime and you will get 24 hrs wifi Lan electricity . But unfortunately hostel provide us meal twice ,they don't provide us breakfast that bit disappointment for us

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department. The admission process was quite easy I went to the college for the PI reporting in the college.
