Honest Review about RKMGEC Purulia

I chose CSE because from childhood I had keen interest in technology and to learn about computer science B.Tech is the best degree to pursue in India. Also the placement scenario in CSE is much better than other engineering domains. In our college, there are nearly 70 students in each department in every year. And for CSE there are 10 faculty members who are well qualified, some of whom are PHD holders from IIT and other prestigious institutions of India. The attendance is mandatory and every student must have 75% attendance but if there is serious medical condition then HOD can make some exceptions.

The students become eligible for placements as soon as they complete their 6th semester (3rd year). A lot of tech companies visit our campus like TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS, DELOITTE etc. This year the highest package offered was 21 LPA by amazon to a ECE graduate. The average package offered in CSE branch is around 6 LPA. Almost every student in CSE who opts for placements gets placed in some good company. My plan is to join startup as a coder after completing my B.Tech degree

Those students who passed class 12th examinations from CBSE/ICSE board or WB board while studying in West Bengal will get SVMCM scholarship (60000 per year). There are also scholarships from girls and reserved categories. The fees of our college is very nominal and it costs roughly 1000 per month (6000 per semester).

There are fests held in our college like AIKATAN. Various singers and famous bands like FOSSILS were invited to the recent test. Normally fests are conducted in the month of March or April depending on the semester examinations. There are not many books available in library as out college is new but the amount of books available in library is growing fast to cope up with the number of students. The classrooms can accommodate 80 students and have projectors and smart board for students. They are cleaned daily. Also there are various clubs like GDSC, NSS etc. Also there is annual sports competition for sports like football, running, volleyball, chess etc.

The admission process through WBJEE is relatively simple. At first you have to get a decent enough rank in WBJEE examination (mine was 6800 GEN Quota) and then fill up the correct preference order during counseling. I got this college in my 2nd round of counseling and I went to college on 2nd day of seat allotment/booking. The faculty of our college is very friendly and they helped us a lot during admission and counseling.
