Dislikes
- The infrastructure of this campus is not good as it's very old when compared to the new IIT"s.
- Hostel rooms are too small and that too have been occupied by 3 students.
- Canteen of the hostel doesn't provide us with many options
Course Curriculum Overview
I am currently pursuing my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. The class size comprises of 199 students. The faculties here are highly experienced and guide you through the courses making you sure you learn the concepts and its application thoroughly.The sem consists of 2 exams namely mid-sem and end-sem alongwith quizzes and assignments which contirbute to the total score in a course.
Internships Opportunities
This year despite being the recession in global market,the students grabbed internships in decent figures with average stipend being around 75,000 and the highest being 4.5 lacs/month. The companies which provided internships included Tech giants like Microsoft , Amazon ,Oracle ,Google , Flipkart.
Placement Experience
THe thing for which this college is famous for after the spirituality of Varanasi is of course it's placements. Students in the 3rd year go for internships and the placement sessno begins in the 7th sem of the students(B.Tech) and 9th sem (IDD) The highest package offered this year was 1.68cpa and total of100+ companies visited the campus for both core and non-core jobs. The average package of the college stood somewhere arounf 23-24 LPA with above 80% students getting placed which is a big positive in this hard time of recession.
Fees and Financial Aid
The semester fees for a general candidate student is 1.06 lac (academic fees) and 15000 (mess fees). However, if you are from the reserved castes or from a family background whose income is a bit low,you are being provided fee waiver at the time of admission itself.
Campus Life
The college mainly has 3 fests namely Kashiyatra - The annual cultural fest. Celebrities are invited and many competitions are being held. Spardha- The sports fest of IIT B.H.U. in which teams from differet colleges come and compete in various sports. Technex - The tech fest of IIT B.H.U. The Deshpande Library provides with all the books needed for our courses and also books from other genre like astrology,psychology,thrill etc. The sports facilities here at IIT B.H.U are really awesome with 3 grounds being present for the outdoor sports and SAC for the indoor sports. Also we have the SCS here which is an organisation mainly run by students which has various verticals like academics,career counselling etc. in order to help the students here in various ways.
Hostel Facilities
The freshers are being alloted Aryabhatta hostel. INfrastructure of the college is a big setback. The buildings are very old and three students are being accomodated in a single room. FOod is something we all miss when away from home. The mess here provides various varieties of food great in taste. We are being provided 3 meals a day Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner. The mess remains closed on Saturday night.
Admission
Students are being given admission on the basis of the entrance exam "Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced" rank. One needs to qualify both JEE Mains and Advanced in order to reserve their seat at IIT B.H.U. Courses allotment is being done by Josaa whose counselling runs for over a month after the results of jee advanced are being declared.
