Remarks

As a whole, this college is very good and time will pass in a whisker. The environment all around and on the campus is very good and encouraging. You can spend the best four years of your life here.

Entrance Preview

I took the JEE MAINS examination to get admitted in this college. Having scored 122 in mains with a 97 percentage in boards, I got a chance in this college in the third round of counselling through JOSAA. This college has a very rich heritage and reputation and is very famous in West Bengal as well as throughout India. The history of students passing out of the college and their present ranks and reputation is too good. This is why I chose the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is very good. The Main focus is given in underground mining operations. The teachers are pioneers in their own respective fields and are an ocean of knowledge in themselves. They are also very reputed and are very eager to share their knowledge. Apart from natural gas and petroleum, all aspects and process and technologies related to mining is covered with great depth. Students can also perform research work under respective professors as they are always encouraging students.

Internships Opportunities

Our college provides the internship. Our college generally sends us to companies and we don't have to look for them on our own, which is for the great help and time-saving. We are not paid. We need to go the company and pay for registration there for the training. But the college provides internship after the second year which almost no other national institute in India does. This is a great positive advantage.

Placement Experience

5

Each year hundred per cent placements take place. The average salary is also very high, ranging from 7-8 LPA. A number of big companies come, including TISCO, Coal India, Vedanta, PWD, Hindalco and so on. Highest packages range from 12-15 LPA. It is always ensured that all the students are placed after graduation and it is achieved successfully each year.

College Events

5

Cultural fest Rebeca, India's oldest cultural fest, technical fest Instruo, apart from that all the clubs present in the college hold their respective fest and competition open to all, and several departments hold their own fest as well, like in Mining department every year INITIUM is held which is a core mining related fest involving paper presentation, case study solving, quizzes, The most emninent guest lectures, IDP and so on. Throughout the year several fests and competitions are going through. In the sports invitational cup is held where other college teams compete with us.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For general students it's 67500 per semesters, for OBC candidates it's around 30000 and for SC candidates tuition fees is 0. hostel fees and mess fees are extra applicable, depending on the hostel provided and food facilities there. It varies from hostel to hostel.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are some scholarships that are available and are given to students based on excellence, like great leadership, captaincy in the sports team, excellence in studies, topper of the department, excellent research, and so on. A good amount is rewarded as a GAABESU scholarship. I don't have any idea about any loan being offered.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The first thing that comes in the mind of a student staying in a hostel, away from home is the quality of food provided there, and I must rudely admit that it has never been up to the mark considering the price they charge from the students,3500+ per month. When you're paying above 3.5k per month you expect the food to be quite good as the amount is quite high (nearly 42k per year)

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumnis are very active. They turn up every year during the convocation and during Rebeca, when we have to go and collect donations from them and in turn invite them to attend the fest. They are very active and maintain good relation with juniors. They are very helpful and are always ready to help if there are any queries. They also help regarding placements. Senior students are also very good. No ragging takes place nowadays. Very friendly.

Exam Structure

Exams are not at all hectic. Just have to balance studies. We generally start two weeks before exams, which are enough. Classes are a good way to learn quick. Labs are very chilled and lab assistants and professors are very friendly and helpful so no need to worry about labs and exams. Generally odd semesters take place during November end and even semesters during April end. Mid semesters are held once in September and once in February end.

Admission

I got selected for a counselling session in this college through JOSAA counselling method. I got chance in the third round of counselling. I booked a suitable slot. According to which I visited the college. I was well guided and process was made less complex. Step by step guidance was given as to how to get admitted. Visited different officers and professors and finally got the admission later after showing required documents. Then I locked my choice and was given a final date for admission where I'll had to pay my first sem fees and admission charges. This is how I got admission.

Faculty

4

Faculty members are very helpful and good. They are always eager to help. The Professors are lenient and friendly, and no extra pressure is given. Regarding any official work, our professors and office post holders always ensure quick completion of queries and problems.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
