- The clubs here do a great job of making the students involved in different activities.
Dislikes
- I think the government should have planted the trees that bear fruits in the campus... The trees here in campus are non fruiting.
- The audio system of the class could be improved.
- The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. It should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
Course Curriculum Overview
Firstly I love Engineering and it's a great scope in the modern world. Engineering is the true building blocks of world. The Institution is great if you want to learn and explore different things... It gives exposure to a lot of Corricular and Extra Corricular Activities. Although it's a great Institution but certain things need to be changed like the audio system and class timings. The exams are conducted per quarter of a year, and the course is quite easy and as per the taught syllabus.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees are quite stable and do not fluctuate. My complete cost of fees is ?820000 as I do not avail any scholarship. There are schemes for economically backward classes. If income is 1 to 5 lakh then two third of the tuition fees will be reduced. If income is below 1 lakh then 100% tuition fees is free. There are also schemes for Physically Challenged students also. I have not undertaken any campus employment roles but there are Campus employment opportunities like Internships and stipends.
Campus Life
The campus life is the best here.. It has a huge campus of 1200 acres with greenery and all kinds of facilities like sports and other extra Corricular activities. Fests are also organized yearlong like the Spring fest-Nitrutsav in February, Innovison held Around November and Cosmopolitan in January. The Biju Pattnaik Central Library is a great library which has a wide range of books including academic and non academic books and also has facility to accommodate large number of students for reading. All kinds of magazines and Journals are also available. There are various sports clubs which induct the talented students and help them increase their potential and also participate in various inter-college sports meets. There are numerous technical and non technical clubs in NITRKL like Cyborg, Asme, BMR, Udaan, Aasra, Ritvik, Pantomime, etc. All these clubs are what make this college special, students watch, feel and learn the social aspects of life through these clubs.
Hostel Facilities
There are 10 hostels in total for Students 7 of them are for boys and 3 for girls. Each room is a double room... Each room has LAN connection and light and fan system. Windows in every room with wire meshes for protection against mosquitoes. Every hostel has various facilities like gym, study room, tv room, music room, etc. The food quality is very good and quite cheap. Food is served 4 times a day...breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner. The menu consists of- Breakfast-Dosa, Bread-jam, Paratha, Tea, sooji upma, poha, ripe banana, etc. Lunch-Rice, Roti, Dal, Biriyani, paneer, egg curry, chicken, prawns, etc Snacks-Chat, banana, samosa, Pakoda, Boiled corn, etc. Dinner-Rice, Dal, Roti, Mutton, Chicken, Puri, Chole-Bhature, etc I rented the room in VS Hall of Residence.
Admission
The admission was through JOSAA. I took JEE exam to get seat in this college. Students after completing 12th standard are eligible for JEE Exam. The application details can be found at jeemain.nic.in. The cutoff was through josaa which determines about what percentage of students gave the exam. I did not like the seat counselling. Exams are held in the month of January to April from 9 to 12 in the morning and 2:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon. Ncert books is recommended by me for clearing the exam. The number of attempts should be increased.
