Course Curriculum Overview
I love mechanical engineering and it has wide range of opportunities in terms of placement and exposure. Mechanical Engineering is a core branch which is never out of date and a evergreen branch. The curriculum prepares us in practical and mental way such that we can deal real life situations. I suggest to use more practical based work rather than theoretical study. Exams are held four times a year midsem and endsem exam. The difficulty level is moderate and based on taught syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
There are various internship opportunities available in nit Rourkela like iit Bombay internship program,tie up with iit Hyderabad etc. The companies that provide internships are Amazon,Wipro,Reliance,Tata,Mahindra, Microsoft,Vedanta,etc. Outcomes of these internships is skill development and work experience.
Placement Experience
For students in 7th semester the placement opportunities are available. Companies like Amazon,Ericson, Reliance,etc. visit to provide placement. Highest package is 91 lpa as per 2023 and average package is 15 lpa. Approximately 90% of students get placed in different companies on campus. My plan is to get placed in a company providing good salary.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees are constant and do not change through a good course of time. The total cost of studying for me is 320000 as I avail scholarship. Scholarship are for students whose family income is below 5 lakhs...their two third of tuition fees is reduced. For students with income below one lakh complete tuition fees is reduced. I haven't undertaken any job roles or employments.
Campus Life
Campus life is the best at nit Rourkela.It is covered with greenery and is very large with 1200 acres of area. Fests are- Innovison-November Vriddhi-November Cosmopolitan -January Nitrutsav-February The Biju Pattnaik Central Library has wide range of books both academic and non academic. The classroom has smartboard and projector where the lecturer writes. There are various sports clubs which induct the talented students and help them reach new heights. There are various clubs like Cyborg,Asme,Pantomime,Euphony,Synergy,BMR,Udaan,Ritvik,etc. These clubs influence the students to build their character and also their mental health strengthening.
Hostel Facilities
The room has LAN connection and it provides high speed internet. The room is quite small which is a disadvantage...these rooms are single rooms but they accommodate two people. The meal quality is moderate including snacks. Provide non veg and veg food. Provide chicken, paneer,egg curry,prawn,etc. The registration for hostel is done on the day of admission and is quite affordable price. I rented the room in VS Hall of Residence.
Admission
Admission was through Jee Mains.we have to clear jee mains to be able to eligible for the course. Application form can be found at jeemain.nic.in. Reservation of mine was obc-pwd category which helped me to get to Nit Rourkela. The exams are conducted 4 times in a year. The exams are moderately prepared according to the taught syllabus. Delay can be reduced at the time of admission.
