Course Curriculum Overview

4

See I am currently pursuing Electronics and Communication as this was one of my choices. I have keen interest in different hardwares but at this point of time I am loving software too. The faculty is really good. Yes somewhere not all, but remember they try harder to give maximum information to you, I must tell the faculties are interesting they help every moment, but yes we all know that at the time of exams we have to study from different YouTube channels and from different networks or teachers or even your batchmates. But if you attend proper classes regularly then you might not need any extra tuitions or even anyone with you... You just need the notes which you will prepare in class.

Internships Opportunities

2

Companies would come to give internships but they are lesser in number so there is a tough competition. But remember college is not the only option, you can find internships even better in outside world, networking with great people from different colleges and attending some phenominal tech events where you can find some like minded people and it might be really fruitful for you career.

Placement Experience

4

Placements is the one thing for which the college has been running from last 23 years I think. Because it's quite good. Remember if you have study properly like an average student of class 12 used to do for getting a minimum of 75% marks then but doing this you would be getting a job worth of your fees. So the placements are good and you just have to think even about the recession on going in this world after the pandemic, but then also companies are coming and giving a good packages and grasping great no. Of students. Some students from our college try to move forward and try to get into it's for masters and all after giving GATE. You can do one thing, just go on linked in and try to find students of B P Poddar, you yourself will get your answer.

Fees and Financial Aid

In our college we have to pay semester wise. I got admission in 2022, and as per that the fees was 4 lakh approx. I have to pay 44k for 1st semester and second semester and gradually for every next year the fees is increased by 1100 only. At the end it is 4 lac approx. and the hostel is about 6600 per month. We have to pay it quarterly at a time. There is scholarships for the students who have been residing here west Bengal and completed his/her 12th from here only. This scholarship is SVMCM (Swami Vivekanand Merit Cum Mean Scholarship). Here in this you get 60k consecutively for 4 year which equals to 2,40,000 at the end. Other scholarships are also there for different minority groups. You can check in NSP(National Scholarship Portal). As of now, no such campus employment has been taken by any student from my batch mostly.

Campus Life

3.5

See frankly speaking the campus infrastructure is way too smaller than you expect in your life. But yes it would be great if you enjoy every moment in these 4 years. The college have different clubs and student chapter which are really great and if join these you will surely be getting some exposure here. Even this can help you to build your overall personality. The classrooms are great, no issues regarding that until you are from a rich family and need a Air conditioner every time. Coming on to the labs, they are up to the mark, yes there is something even more interesting and fascination and that is the "Mac-Lab", where iMac's are present and you can only use these if you are indulge into any project or research under guidance of professor. All the machineries are great and systems are updated. It's just the campus structure which will dissapoint you, as there is no ground and any outdoor sports. Intra-college tournaments are organized yearly of both football and cricket.

Hostel Facilities

3

See remember that hostel is not your home. So you will not get food as you get in your home. The food here is the biggest problem, specially in boys hostel. Food is not so great, even not so good. You have to survive like you are in forest and craving heavily. Yes and that's true. For the first few months you might eat lot of junks from outside but remember it is only about for few days/months and you will get use to it. Now a days the food has been improved and it tastes better than before it use to. But remember that somewhere the food is the secondary and your placements and studies are the primary one. The Hostel rules are quite strict, but yes it's always there for every boy's hostel and you are too smart to tackle every thing and it's just a hostel. I hope you understand. The rooms are clean and proper hygiene is maintained (sometimes not, but it's secret).

Admission

It was quite simple. I have given the WBJEE exam which is West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. After this the ranks were alloted. And as per the ranks we have been alloted the colleges after the counselling. Please be careful while you sit for counselling as I have done a mistake. I would have got far better colleges but I got admission to this. After spending a year and a half, now I am jn second year, I can confidently say that ohkay, somewhere the college is important but it's all about your performance in college.

Other Applied Colleges

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
