Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum in VIT is par with the latest technological demands of market. It trains you for the real world and gives exposure which may be helpful for real world applications. I personally find the teaching methods and curriculum to be good and appropriate for industrial standards. There are three exams conducted in total in a semester among which 1 is an open book exam and 1 is the final examination. The frequency and timings are well planned and doesn't inflict much pressure.
Internships Opportunities
There are plenty of internships provided, even from big tech companies like Google, Microsoft etc. The college also supports for external intership opportunities. The average stipend is almost around 10-15K per month. These internships provide real world experience and industrial exposure.
Placement Experience
The college provides ample opportunities for campus placement. Students become eligible for campus placement after their 5 semesters and can give interviews in companies based on their CGPA. There is a huge list of companies which visit every year, some of which are Google, Microsoft, oracle, Meta, TATA etc The placement ratio is very good and almost every student is placed in some or the other company unless they opt for further studies. I plan for campus placement after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure of VIT chennai is rather very confusing. The fees increases as your rank goes down in the VITEEE which is the entrance exam for the college. Finincial assistance in terms of loans are provided. My complete cost of education per year comes out to be approximately 3,00,000. Internships are provided within the campus with a good stipend.
Campus Life
The campus life is very enjoyable here. There are two yearly fests, one is technical fest called TechnoVIT and other is a culture fest called Vibrance which are held in the months of October and March respectively. VIT has a state of the art library with every book needed for the entire duration of course along with novels and research papers. The classrooms are well equipped and labs have the latest and maintained apparatus which are required by the curriculum. The campus has large grounds and almost all the sports ameites with maintained sports equipments. There are bunch of clubs which include both technical and cultural clubs which provide great networking opportunities and exposure.
Hostel Facilities
There are multiple choices for room. There are 2,3,4 and 6 bedded rooms in both A/C and non A/C options. Rooms are equipped with beds, study table, chairs, night lamp fans, tubelights, mirrors and shoerack. There are in total 3 types of mess, namely veg mess, non-veg mess and special mess have option of two caterers in each which provide healthy and good quality of food. Registration for Hostel is done in two phases, online and offline. Students can choose the room according to their requirement in first phase which is online. If they fail to do so, they have option to come physically to campus before the start of college and choose the rooms based on availability.
Admission
Admission process for VIT University is rather very confusing. There is as such no eligibility criteria except for the minimum 75% marks in boards exam. I found the application form, fees and dates on official website of VIT. There are no reservations. The timing of exam was good as it was conducted alongside other major exams like JEE MAINS and the difficulty was high enough in accordance to the college. They can improve in the process of fee payment and hostel booking as it was very confusing and it didn't give time to think about other options.
