- Hostels for first years can be improved.
- Teachers can teach better. Mostly we don't understand in class.
- A lot of stress occurs during exams due to less time in between exams.
Course Curriculum Overview
My father works in DRDO where mechanical is in depend. I want to join DRDO itself and so chose mechanical. For the real world applications, curriculum prepares for a very good extent but we can improve more by doing internships and outside courses. Teaching can be done in a more fun way so that students enjoy and learn. We have 3 types of exams in each sem. Interals-- 30min exam, midsems-- 1.5 hrs and endsems-- 3 hrs exam. They are difficult because we get very less time for studying during exams
Placement Experience
Campus placement are for 4 th years only but students can get PPOs in 3rd year itself. For my brach, Bajaj, tata, axis Bank , Mahindra and maruthi Suzuki are major companies. And there are other small companies too. Placement percentage is around 95. Try for DRDO job through gate exam
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure is different for different categories. For general it is around 2 lakhs per year. As of now there is no fee increase policy for us. The total fees i will be paying is about 9-10lakhs. There are definitely scholarship exams for the students but I don't have much knowledge about it. I am a student and hence don't know about employment.
Campus Life
We have incident in March and engineer in October fests in a year. There are all the books for academics and lot of journals too are available. We have smart boards in every classroom. Almost all kinds of sports are offered in my campus except swimming for which pool is being built now I have no idea about student run social groups
Hostel Facilities
We have 1 bed, bookshelf and cupboard for each student. We have a shoe rack also in a room. Each room is shared by three students in first year and single shared in subsequent years. Meal quality is medium and menu is also quite good. Registration for hostel and mess took place at the same time of admission process. It is at a very affordable price
Admission
I got into NITK through jee mains. I had to pay 1000 rupees for the exam. I wrote the exam twice and best of two percentiles was taken for rank. Application for exam was released one month before the first attempt. After both the attempts, ranks are released. People with category get a seperate category rank too apart from the general rank. I got a obc rank too. There were 2 shifts for the exam ,morning and evening. It was 3 hours long exam and it took place for a total of 7 days in total. My shift had a medium level paper. After getting the rank, counseling starts for the NITS and IITS. After getting the college, we have to come to college and confirm admission. The whole was very smooth and easy.
