Remarks
The college management has strict regulations about students wandering around the campus or outside campus as it is restricted. The language might be a barrier as so which I faced a lot during my time.
Entrance Preview
JEE. Wanted to pursue aerospace engineering and realized they have where they had an aircraft a helicopter and parts of an aircraft for students detailed study.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was designed aptly to the student's requirements and was in line with the industry trends and requirements. A lot of shuffling of courses is something that needs to be given more attention to as it creates harakiri among the students. Apart from that, the course gives enough time for students to keep up with other works if their life and keeps them engaged in interactive subjects.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college has started providing internships at a reputed organization. Do not know about the stipend as it's based on the individual courses. The college also allows full sponsorships to students who wish to participate in competitions held abroad.
Placement Experience
The placements and job opportunities are also good. SRM is known for a large number of MNCs coming for bulk placements. So there's a pretty decent shot for you to get placed in a reputed organization. You should not be expecting a highly paid salary unless you've been at the top of merit and has contributed significantly in your respective field.
College Events
We have AARUSH which is the tech fest. Which is held in the month of September and then we have MILAN which is the most awaited cultural fest not at just SRM but across INDIA. The college also organizes a fest solely dedicated for people interested in music. It's called as TANTRA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for just tuition is pretty expensive. For Aerospace I think it's somewhere around 3.5 lakhs per annum which indeed is a hefty tuition fees to pay. Apart from that hostels would cost you around RS 90000- 1 lakh which includes your boarding and mess charges and the room cleaning service.
Fees and Financial Aid
I really doubt for if there is any loan facility but yes, scholarships are provided to meritorious students. And post performing well in their first year, they can even avail scholarships for the second year.
Campus Life
Campus life is overwhelming. At no point, you'd feel you're alone or deserted. There are numerous places within the campus to go for hogging. With plenty of extracurricular activities to go for and an excellent gender ratio, the college doesn't fall back in any aspect pertaining to education or sports or co-curricular activities.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are excellent. You would get almost anything that you need from the hostel authorities. And they are really supportive to students who are not native. This makes life really easy for people coming from outside. The mess food is not so good, not so bad. At some days you'd find it lip-smacking and some days you wouldn't want to even look the dishes after seeing the menu
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network doesn't work as much as everybody is busy planning their higher education or trying to get a job. And a lot of aluminum go off the social grid.
Exam Structure
The exam structures come with 2 cycle tests that happen after 60 days from the start of the semester and then 45 days after the first cycles. One month post the second cycle test we have Model examinations and then after another 15 days, we have the semester examinations.
Admission
Through SRM entrance exam. The process was quite smooth as I had secured a good rank and since I wanted to pursue aerospace engineering, I knew at no point that there would be insufficient seats as it was the most expensive course of the university. And yes it might burn a hole in your pocket but in the long run it will pay you a good dividend and will give other top colleges a run for their money.
