Course Curriculum Overview
The initial courses are designed in a very friendly way so that the students get adjusted to higher education, adequate material is provided in most of the courses. In a sem a course has 2 quizes one midsem exam and one end sem along with three assignments (may vary with different courses). You have many electives provided which you can chose according to what higher education you're gonna pursue. The course curriculum in mechanical engineering definitely needs updation, I would'nt support the statement that it prepares you for real-world applications.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opporunities are really limited unlike placements, only 15 percent of people get them, the companies that came are caterpillar, exxon mobil, bajaj, AWS, Wells Fargo, Citi India, Standard Chartered.
Placement Experience
You become eligible for placements in fourth year, many companies visit campus even for core fields like mechanical engineering. Few important companies that visited are Tata Electronics, Wells fargo, HPCL, BPCL, BEL, CITI INDIA, PWC, GAIL etc. Many amazing PSUs visit campus making placements amazing. There is no elligibility criteria for placements, anyone can sit for it based on companies requirements. Highest package in Mechanical engineering is 25Lpa from wells fargo, average is 11Lpa. Currently as of feb 70 percent people are placed in mechanical engineering. I got placed in Tata electronics for 20Lpa even after having 6.5 cgpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure is approximately 80,000 rs for tution fee, 30,000 rs for hostel rent and mess per semester. Based on your category and financial conditions sometimes you get a waiver. No campus employment opportunities.
Campus Life
We have incident and engineer fest usually in march. Library got enough books to support you throughout the curricullum. Classrooms are old and dull with no technology other than projector. Sports teams are good but are on their own on funding for tournaments and practice no support provided from college other than permission (talking from my experience as Badminton team captain), sports infrastructure is decent tho. There are clubs but all are just a means to socialise and have a circle to drink and find dates. You will really only love college life if you are part of a decent and disciplined sports team in college (hence my life was good).
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accomodation is really bad in the first two years, in third and fourth year it is a little decent. Messes are really bad, horrendouz food and very unhygenic, no good food outlet inside campus too and outside also no proper outlet.
Admission
We had to give JEE Main Entrance exam (had to have 75 percent or above in 12th grade to be eligible) and based on cutoffs and category you were provided seat in JOSAA Councelling, JEE Main is conducted 4 times a year and your best percentile among the 4 is considered. The difficulty of the exam ranges from easy to moderate, the mode of test is computer based. I had been alloted B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering based on my rank in 2nd round of councelling which I accepted. Admission process was done during COVID Lockdown, and was completely online which made it hassle free. The online document submission made the admission process pretty easy.
