Likes
- Our campus has its very own private beach. I don't think I have to describe how wonderful it is to live next to a beach.
- The institute has a very lively atmosphere. A lot of events take place here from time to time to keep you on your heels
- There are a lot of places to visit in and around the campus. Manipal and Udupi are in proximity.
Dislikes
- The climate here isn't the best. It's rainy mostly
- Relative grading is followed here. So don't expect grades to be awarded easily.
- Water shortage can happen during summer.
Course Curriculum Overview
Compared to other colleges, the course curriculum is up to date. But obviously there are some subjects which won't interest you at all and it would make you wonder why you're doing this course in the first place. But most of the courses are well updated in order to help in improving your problem solving abilities and intuitiveness.
Internships Opportunities
As I mentioned earlier tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs, oracle come to the campus every year to offer internships to undergraduate. As I'm in 1st year I don't have much idea about the stipends provided. For more information, refer to nitk's official website.
Placement Experience
Placements start from fourth year onwards mostly ( unless if you get a pre placement offer and get placed in the third year itself). Many tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs visit the campus often. Companies offering packages below 6 CTC are usually not allowed in the campus. Placement percentage varies from branch to branch, but mostly around 90% people get placed at least.
Fees and Financial Aid
There has not been any hike in the tuition fees as such. The hostel fees sums up to be around 1,30,000 per annum. The tuition fees is 1,20,000 per annum. Scholarships are availed for students belonging to reserved categories.
Campus Life
Being a tier-1 goverment college, the college provides a top-notch campus life. The technical fest 'Engineer' is held every odd semester and the cultural fest 'Incident' is held every even semester. The college also provides a large spectrum of books and journals which are available in the central and E-library. A lot of Extracurricular activities are offered by the campus. Think of any sport you want, it would definitely be there. The college also has many clubs which you can join based on your passion and desire. Overall the campus life is 10/10
Hostel Facilities
First years are allotted triple sharing rooms. From second year on you can chose between single or double sharing. Hostels are well maintained and I personally did not find any problem in accomodation. Mess food isn't bad, it's manageable. We have a grand dinner every month tho :)
Admission
It's an Nit, so of course admission is through the jee mains examination. Reservation benefits are availed for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved classes. I personally got ~9k rank in jee mains, through which I got a seat in electronics and electrical engineering in this college.
