Nit Rourkela Overview.

The first year curriculum is what I personally hate, it don't see the point in reading things which i don't have any interest on. Later on, I did see and learn why it was designed as such it is whole another discussion. Now from 2nd year onwards, you will have your core studies and most probably you will enjoy it. I saw many seniors and even my own brothers were from this college so I chose this course. I think the teaching methodology should be changed but it is almost the same everywhere in almost all the colleges, so its a fair trade-off.

Various companies like texas instruments ->1lakh per month, tcs - 8-9lpa , mathworks-26lpa , disney and hotstar->1 lakh per month , and many many more are there Resume need to update regularly and real life projects should exist.

For Campus Placements , we are eligible after our 6th semester. there are various companies who visit ranging from small startups to big MNC's . Almost all the companies list can be found in the placement brochure which is availabe in our college website.Highest package is around 55lpa and lowest is around 4-5 lpa. Percantage of students getting placed is about 90%. My plans is to get a job and move forward in my career.

Fees in increased at a fixed rate of 10% and only recently we had a hike in our mess fees. the complete cost of my education , tution service fees comes to about 100k , I have availed an all india scholarship of Reliance which cuts down my cost a lot. For family income >500k fees is 100k and for family income between 100k and 500k the fees is 66k and for family income less than 100k fees is about 10k , i am not sure though. On campus and off campus opportunities are great in the college as it gives you a vast alumni network.

The overall campus life is very good, we have a large campus area , with lots of clubs, each year we have 4 fests and one celebrity night. Innovision the tech fest held in November ,Vriddhi held in November, Nitrutsav held in February, Cosmo held in Jan. The celebrity night is usually a singing programme held during April. Vast variety of books present in Biju Pattnaik Library. Classrooms are clean in almost all the branches , there is greenery everywhere. We have Vriddhi which is the official sports fest of NIT Rourkela , apart from this , we also have inter hall , intra-hall competitions , and inter college sports competitions. There are various clubs run by students in Nit Rourkela . Ranging from Technical , Cultural to Music. there are almost 4-5 clubs in each category . But each club deals with different aspects of their domain.

The admission process is quite smooth, except for the fact that the college has a lot of delays. I was enrolled in CSE and got a high percentile in my jee mains and advanced. I was the rank opener of my college for my home state. You can find the application form from NIT Rourkela's website, all the forms, fees structure are mentioned there along with the application dates, every 1 and a half months we have one exam either mid sems or end sems, and the difficulty is medium to hard. The area for improvement could be that they could give exact dates and timings beforehand, which will cause less dilemma to students.
