- The course curriculum and academics are good and chill as compared to some other IITs.
- Club activities and extra curricular activities are good.
- Earlier it was IT BHU so the alum network is very big.
Dislikes
- Campus and Infrastructure is very bad as its very old and campus is shared with BHU.
- No good eateries and canteen inside campus.
- Old hostels and three sharing in hostel room. No AC in classrooms.
Course Curriculum Overview
If we divide course curriculum semester wise( 2 semesters per year i.e. 8 semesters for 4 year course), the curriculum of first 2 semesters is almost same for all departments ( including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer programming, Human Values, Physical Education, etc.). The course curriculum is tough for circuital branches if you want to do coding and SDE stuff. But its good for core and research purpose. 2 exams - i.e. midsems and endsems are conducted once per semester along with class test and quiz (depends on professor).
Internships Opportunities
Interns sessions are there in 3rd year for B.tech students and in 4th year for IDD students. A good number of companies visit here for internship with a good stipend. Intern stats are good for circuital branches like cse, mnc, ece, eee. A lot of students receive PPOs( pre placement offers) after internship.
Placement Experience
The stats for placements are quite good. The placement percentage is also good for circuital branches. The average package is around 20+ lpa. Various companies visit the college including big ones like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc. Most of the students prefer for SDE jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a fee waiver based on annual income which can be availed by fee remission form. Also there are various scholarships offered by government, private organisations and the institute itself. Complete tution fees is around 106000 but if your annual income is below 1 lakh then its 6000+15000(for mess) and if annual income is between 1 to 5 lakhs then 2/3rd waiver on tutuion fees.
Campus Life
There are various clubs and councils in our college like SNTC, FMC, cultural etc. Under these councils there are clubs like Robotics, Music Clubs, Cine and Photog, etc. There are several grounds and Student Activity Centre (SAC) for sports facilities. Classrooms and Departmental buildings are old and are not air conditioned. There is a big range of books in library and there is a reading hall too. Separate building or centre for club activities should be there.
Hostel Facilities
There is a sharing of 3 for first and second year students. The rooms are not that spacious and are suitable for sharing of two. Some of the hostels are too old and need serious maintenance. New hostels are being constructed. Mess quality is okayish and vary from hostel to hostel. Hostel registration is done separately in Hostel's Warden Office.
Admission
To get admission in IIT BHU (or any IIT) we have to crack JEE advanced (obviously JEE Mains too). The cutoff criteria is based on rank obtained in Jee Advanced. Diffferent branches (departments like cse,ece..,etc.) have different cutoff based on CRL and category ranks. JEE mains is conducted by NTA and JEE advanced is conducted by IITs so you can find the registration and application details on NTA's and JEE Advanced's website. There are various reservations like Caste Based ( OBC, Sc/St), for Economically weaker sections, for females, etc. After Jee advanced result we have to apply for JOSAA counselling for seat allocation. After confirmation of seat in IIT, we have to register online on College's Portal. Admission is a hybrid process i.e. after online registration we have to report offline for registration on assigned dates. Admission process can be improved by improving online portal and servers and make it hassle free.
