Course Curriculum Overview
The inclusion of subjects like DSA influenced my choice of the course. The curriculum is well updated to the trends of the real world. The only problem I found was the inclusion of a lot of common subjects in the first year. These subjects usually don't prove helpful for placements. The frequency of exams is two per semester. (Two semesters make up a year.) The difficulty of the common subject exams is easy to moderate while the difficulty of the branch subjects is very hard (for electronics and communication branch).
Internships Opportunities
You can apply for internships from the 5th semester. There are both, paid and unpaid internships. The maximum stipend can go to a staggering 2 lacs. There are many internship opportunities available. The seniors are very supportive and help in acquiring interships.
Placement Experience
The students are eligible for campus placements from 6th semester. Many renowned companies like Texas Instruments, Apple, Google and Goldman Sachs visit the college. For branches like electronics and computer science, almost all the students get placed, with an average package of 18 lpa and 20 lpa respectively. The highest package of 64 lpa also belongs to the branches ece and cse. If no campus placement offered, then too the degree has a lot of value and can help in acquiring jobs later on. My plan after getting the degree is to work a job for two to three years and then pursue MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees of one semester is 62500 inr. The institute fees per semester is 19000 inr. If hostel taken up, the per semester fees is 32000 inr. There are no irregular hikes in fees as this institute is controlled by the central government. Over the 4 years period the total cost would be around 10,00,000 inr (considering daily needs costs) if hostel availed. All the prices were given for general category male. The mails are provided by the college if the state or the central government launches any new scholarship schemes. The fees are much lower for students with reservations.
Campus Life
The overall campus life experience for me till now is great. The campus size is not too big nor too small. There is one cultural fest (blitz) and one technical fest (sphinx) every year along with many other sports fests. The library consists of over 10,000 easily accessible books and ebooks. The lecture theatre complex is Asia's largest. Each lecture hall consists of two projectors along with a black board and a capacity of about 120 students. There is a scope for every sport in the college except swimming due to the lack of a swimming pool. There are many official and unofficial clubs in the college which are active and conduct many events. The clubs help immensely in the growth of personality. A few clubs to name are level X (dance), MC^2 {dance), Mavericks (cultural), Drama, Debate, Zine and Robotics club.
Hostel Facilities
There are 14 hostels for male students and 2 hostels for female students in the college while another hostel is under construction. For first year, each room has three students and single room is alloted second year onwards. The rooms are sufficiently spacious and the hostels are usually located near to the lecture theatre complex. The meal quality and mess facilities of some hostels are below par but for the others they are above decent. The registration for hostels can be done along the registration for the course. Many PGs are also available near the college due to its central location.
Admission
The application process was through josaa or csab counseling. The eligibility is decided by jee mains rank. The application forms can be found on nta site after jee advanced is over. Reservations for the physically disabled, EWS, OBCs, SCs, and STs are available along with reservations for home state quota. The admission process usually takes a long time. This can be improved. The college site is not very user friendly. I got my branch with a rank of 10437.
