What Students Say
Likes
- Good cultural fests, transport availability, sports.
- Good faculties, infrastructure, and other facilities like Dominos, a cafe, 2 canteens and other shops.
- No ragging or bullying in campus, as strict actions are taken against it.
Dislikes

- Some labs are very bad, systems being slow or not working at all
- Some faculties being too strict and hard to work with and giving too much unwanted work
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum covers all topics for interview questions and higher studies related exams concepts. Some faculties discuss and tell us which topics are interview type and which ones are higher studies related. Exams are moderate levelled, relative grading type. But most students watch YouTube videos to learn rather than listening to class, as they prove to be easier to understand. But there are a handful of faculties whose classes are great to listen to.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft, Amazon, Paypal, TCS, Accenture, Morgan Stanley, etc offer internships during 3rd year, where they conduct coding exams and interviews. Stipends range from 20000 to 140000 (Amazon). For other branches, stipends are usually lesser. Projects are usually based on AI and ML.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements during 4th year (7th semester), but we get internship opportunities during the 5th and 6th semesters, but we can only attend them during 7th semester. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, Accenture, PayPal, Morgan Stanley, and many more visit our campus. Due to recession, the number of companies visited last year was only 550, but the year before, about 850+ companies visited our campus. This trend of recession is still followed and lesser companies will be visiting our college for the next year also mostly. Offers are usually ranging from 6-11 lpa on average and 25 lpa packages are also offered. Highest package ever offered was 1.02 Cr. 80% of students get placed. I'm planning to sit for placements after getting my degree, as higher studies are too expensive for me. Also the student population here is too high and because of recession lesser companies are coming to campus so getting placed has been hard for the last 2 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
They don't increase the academics fee, I got a good rank in the entrance and got a seat with the least fee (?198000) and it has been the same till now (I'm in my 6th semester). They award cash prize to branch toppers (50000 rs). Till now the only compulsory charge I was asked to pay is the placement training and registration fees, which was around ?7000. Bus fees was 50000 during my second year and 35000 in my third year. I think they have bus routes for upto 50 kilometers distance from the college. Internship opportunities start from 3rd year onwards, with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, etc offering more than 100000 stipends. Placements start from 7th semester onwards.
Campus Life
We have cultural events like TechnoVIT (held during October) and Vibrance (Rivera in Vellore, held during Feb or March). They conduct many events and activities, and during Vibrance, we get to watch famous artists and actors perform on stage. Many sports equipments, including tennis, swimming, hockey and basketball are available and also gym facilities (free hostel gym for hostellers and a paid, premium gym for others and hostellers too). Classrooms have projectors, labs have computers, nothing too fancy there. Just average classrooms and labs. Some labs are bad, as some of the systems are very slow or don't work or the state of the lab looks very bad in general. There are numerous clubs which are great and organise events in our college. Library is well organised and is a peaceful place, with many books available. Rating a 9 because of the bad state of some labs and classrooms, which are very uncomfortable and doesn't give the mood to listen to class.
Admission
Application was smooth and easy. Many people said VIT provides good placements and also it had good reviews. After applying, I had to write VITEEE entrance exam. I got 6589 rank so they gave me the course I opted for (BTech CSE) in Chennai. I didn't opt for Vellore (main campus) as I didn't want to join the hostel. VITEEE was conducted twice so as to give an opportunity for people who missed it for some reason the first time. Application form, application fees, and application dates can be found on VIT's admission website. I found the entrance exam to be easy as I prepared for JEE in institutions like Allen and Ahaguru. The questions asked were harder than CBSE board level questions, but much easier than JEE Mains level questions.
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I've heard bad reviews about SRM and it has a bad reputation
