My Life at IIT (BHU)

The curriculum of Mining Engineering is good, it is based on the credits system, which I consider a pretty good system to provide grades to a student. The course also offers subjects of other departments also so that you get to learn everything available in the institute. But some of the courses are a bit outdated and can be replaced with some technologies that can build interest in the mind of students and also make the learning interesting.

Companies such as Google Microsoft Salesforce, Oracle, Groww and many huge companies and also Multinational companies offer internships through the Training and Placement Cell of our institute. But internship opportunities are less as compared to placements. But again if you study at a decent level you can obtain an on campus opportunity with a good amount

College Placements are pretty good. They are in comparison with IIT BOMBAY. From several years we have a 100% placement rate and an average package of 22 LPA. But in some lower branches such as Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Ceramic, Industrial Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, Biochemical , Biomedical placement opportunities are less as compared to branches such as CSE Electrical Mathematics and Computing and Electronics

I'm in my second year and from the past year they haven't increased any fees, and I think the fees is okay if you belong to a middle class family. An academic year will cost you around 2.5 Lakhs but they don't charge you for hostels. Number of scholarships are available for students here, which is provided by the institute as well as the Alumni. Several alumni help students who are economically weak by providing them Scholarships. Campus employment is pretty good as compared to other IITs but for non circuital branches such as Mining, Metallurgy, Pharmaceutical, Ceramic, Industrial Chemistry placement opportunities lack somewhere but eventually if you study at a decent level you can gain a placement of about 18-19 LPA

My overall campus life is amazing. Having an open campus wherein you can bring your own vehicles and roam in the campus with a lush green vicinity of the campus is amazing. Also the campus provides a lot of opportunity in terms of clubs and cells, wherein you can participate in the skills you wanna improve. Fests that are held are Kashiyatra which is held in January Technex which is Asias oldest techno- management festival is held in March Film and media council weekend held in October Spardha which is the sports fest is held in September A very vast Library shrenivas Deshpande Library which allows reading rooms where you can study peacefully. There are projectors and smartbords in every classroom of the institute, also equipped with enough illumination and fans. There are NO AIR CONDITIONERS in the classrooms Several sports ground such as ADV grounds Gymkhana and Rajputana Grounds provide free area to play, there is Student Activity Center which provides a gym + indoor games

Hostels are pretty good, there are several new hostels built recently which provide good facilities such as spacious rooms, gardens, lifts in the hostels. But majorly the campus has old hostels which also provide a holistic vibe in the campus but they lack in basic facilities also the rooms in those hostels aren't spacious Food quality in mess of the hostels is okayish but it is better as compared to other IITs and NITs, but still the food is not up to the mark, you get breakfast lunch and dinner but no afternoon meal. 3 types of vegetable 1 type of dal Roti Rice All the mess are both veg and non veg But there are two messes in the campus that provide pure JAIN FOOD Also there is an Andhra mess in the campus that provide South Indian food

Admission process is carried out though JEE ADVANCED examination which is conducted once every year. Clearing JEE ADVANCED is the only way you can get into this institution. After clearing JEE ADVANCED you fill the JOSSA counseling and then on the basis of your rank in the examination, you get college on the basis of preference filled.
