Remarks

As I mentioned earlier that the main advantage is you can get your degree as well as prepare for any competitive exam simultaneously. So considering this, SOL is best. GOOD LUCK with your admission.

Entrance Preview

SOL is an open learning school affiliated with Delhi University which offers various UG and PG courses. I personally opted this College because I wanted to get my graduate degree as well as working experience in an office at the same time and it had not been possible if I would have opted the regular college. So this is the reason for mine to go for SOL.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

B.Com (Hons) in SOL is a 3 years course which is divided in three parts for each year i.e. Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. The subjects are divided into parts

Internships Opportunities

SOL, Delhi University does not offer an internship in any of the programs whether you are pursuing Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses.

Placement Experience

1.5

Mainly the MNCs and other companies prefer the students who have completed their education at a regular college and not from open one. So if it is about placement and job opportunities then DU does not have separate placement cell for SOL but it does not mean that if you are a student of School of Open Learning then you will not get the job anywhere. It is not like that. The only thing is that the regular college students are more preferable by the companies. That's it.

College Events

3.5

School of Open Learning is a school of distance education. So I never thought that there would be any event or fest would be conducted at the school. But to my surprise, the DU fest was get conducted in the School of Open Learning. It was Antardhvani event in which the students were allowed to participate in the Poetry, Translation, Imaginative Writing.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for B.Com (Hons) course is Rs. 3,840. So of course, the School of Open Learning Fee is feasible for all the students who are actually looking to pursue and complete their education from distance learning. There is no way the students can get their study done under Rs 4,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

Nope, there is no scholarship or any kind of fellowship get offered by the School of Open Learning, Delhi University.

Campus Life

2.5

School of Open Learning is engaged in creating competitions such as essay writing and academic writing in general but not mostly. And if I talk about the gender ration and diversity, there is no huge difference.

Hostel Facilities

3

The School offers to learn through the distance education mode which is a viable alternative for students who need a flexible medium of instruction to attain higher education and vocational skills. However, there is no hostel and mess food facility provided by the school. So sorry, no ratings.

Alumni/Alumna

One of my friend who was a student of School of Open Learning, Delhi University suggested me to go with this one. So, he helped me by guiding the selection of the optional subjects and all.

Exam Structure

The exam structure of SOL is okay as there was no clash of dates with other exams. Above all the gaps between the exams are also apparent. So according to me, SOL does not have any problem with the exam structure. The faculties of the School of Open Learning also help the students to sort out any of the problems regarding exams.

Admission

The admission process in the School of Open Learning, Delhi University is very convenient and simple. The faculty only asks you for the documents of yours such as 10th, 12th mark sheet, Id proof etc. along with the filled in application form either online or offline. The candidates then have to attach the required documents (the list of documents to be submitted is given below) along with the course fee. The candidates applying for the admission in SOL need to submit the following documents - Copy of attested class 10 Mark sheet Copy of attested class 12 Mark sheet Original Category Certificate Character certificate from the last School/College attended Attested copy of DOB Proof Recent passport size photograph to be attested in the application form

Faculty

4

Classes in SOL is conducted only two days a week i.e. Saturday and Sunday. Although, most of the time, the classes get canceled. The classes get conducted in any of the college of Delhi University allotted by the SOL. But honestly, I can't say much about the faculties as the teachers were good and seem to have good knowledge of their subject till whatever classes I have attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
