Zakir Husain Evening College, Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com]

Remarks

As mine was an evening college the timings were pretty late.B ut the thing is not about the timings but the area in which it is situated. The very nearby area is not at all clean and safe. About good thing is that if you cross that area the cp is around 2 km away in which student can hang out and enjoy their College life.

Entrance Preview

Zakir Hussain college will provide you with an increase in your knowledge of extra activities which is the main reason for opting. There are many societies to participate in commerce society, arts and culture society in which students on their own have to organize various events with minimum participation of the teachers from which a student learns a lot.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Zakir Hussain offers a wide variety of course. It has courses for every stream I.e. commerce, science and arts. So the crowd is a pretty mix of all stream.

Internships Opportunities

The placement cell is not very great (not generalizing but my department has this problem)It can provide some of the students with the internship but the status of the I won't say is very high.

Placement Experience

1.5

Again because of the weak placement cell the job opportunities are not there . Besides the low package, the growth in which the job is provided is not very much i.e the company which approaches doesn't have much growth prospectus or the position is not fulfilling your expectations.

College Events

2.5

There are various events that are celebrated in college which are organized by students itself working in the societies of the college.First is the fresher event which is done to welcome freshers. Then the teachers day event is organized in which all the teachers are welcomed by the students and have fun and enjoy their day when entertained by students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a Delhi University college and subsidized by central government the fee structure is very much feasible for a middle class compared to other private institutes teaching the same course. For my course (b.com Hons) it was around 9000 which is way cheaper for the benefits taken.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, not aware of the loan facility. But there is a scholarship which is provided if a student passed with the highest score in their course has 3 ranks.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratio was very low in my course especially.Male: female was5:1 in my section and somewhat in another. So there is not much much gender diversity. The library has a great option for books. For some semesters I didn't have to purchase a single books . Also the extracurricular activities are also there. There are debate, poetry, rangoli making, competitions being organized.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors were pretty helpful. Especially if you join a society you will get to know many seniors and talk and know about the experiences and how you can make your college life better.

Exam Structure

My course had the semester vise exam structure. After every semester of 6 months the exam approaches (in the month of may and end November -start December). The exam is taken place in college and sent to the university for checking. And after 1-1.5 month the result comes out on the Delhi University site.

Admission

Based on my 12th marks I got admission in this Institute. As it is a Delhi University college, every year after 12th results the cut off list is being announced based on which student can take admission. Also there are many cut off which are announced based upon the seats vacant.

Faculty

3

The faculty is quite mix in my course (or I can say commerce department). Some teachers especially young teachers are passionate about sharing their knowledge and giving their time to the students. Besides studies, they can also guide you about the carrier. Not all but some of the old teachers are like that only.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

Placement Experience:

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement is quite good the percentage of students is not same always it changes but only those students with proper knowledge, experience, skills get good placement. There is a proper placement cell for this which is very active. Prepare for government exams (SSC, UPSC, etc.) Go for higher education (PG, B.Ed., MBA, etc.) Enroll in skill-based or professional certification courses outside college

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
