Course Curriculum Overview
As all of us know that VIT is very focused in terms of academics thus it has a well defined course curriculum. Since I took computer Science and Engineering so I have courses like DSA,DBMS, OS, Computer Networks,AI, Compiler Designing and languages like Java, Python and Cpp as my core courses. VIT also provides other non core courses like Management,Ethics,French,Spanish and other languages.Apart from these the 1st year students will be having Chemistry,Maths and Physics which will be of decent difficulty and a student who has strong hold on these subjects during high school should never find any difficulty in clearing these subjects. But after Completing 2nd year VIT provides more core subjects that can be applied in real world applications like ML,Embedded Systems and so on. Thus because of the vast options to choose from I took CSE in which I have to complete a total of 161 credits from a list of numerous subjects that I'm interested in.
Placement Experience
After 6 sem the B.TECH students become eligible for campus placements. The total offers offered is around 900 for the year 2023. Some of the top notch companies visit here like amazon, microsoft, intel etc. VIT claims that is has a Average package of around 9.23 lakhs which is mostly true and most of the students who are interested in placements get placed. After getting the degree i'll work for few years and then later go for higher studies as VIT has a good brand name which helps students in higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
VIT has a category wise fees, according to the rank. The 1st category students pay a fees of 204000 tution fees and with every increase in category you'll have to pay 1lac extra. But with every year this base fee increases and the above mentioned fees is for my batch (2025 class). VIT fortunately also provides Scholarship facilities on the basis of family financial background and the current CGPA maintained which should be 9 or above. Fee structure wise VIT is a typical private college which focuses on earning more with increased tution fees.
Campus Life
The campus life here in VIT revolves all around academics and CGPA. As for taking hostel rooms and courses the one with more cgpa gets preference. Thus naturally the social aspect here in VIT is below par and most of the students are so much burdened with the college courses that they dont take part in any of the social events. Though there are some exceptions and some of the students take part in co-curricular activities. Whereas if you'll look on paper then every student has to join a club though mostly it's for name sake.
Hostel Facilities
I took Hostel and VIT provides different options when it come to hostel. It has 3 different options : 2 ,4 and 6 bedrooms each with Ac and Non ac. The annual price for 4 bed NAC is around 48k but for 2 bed AC it is around 1lac. So in general one can say that the hostel fees is reasonable with different options. Finding hostel availability is easy and one can get it at affordable price.
Admission
If I will tell about my admission process, I will first mention that it was completely online. So I didn't have to travel to Vellore for the Counselling and admission and because of this I didn't feel exhausted at all. So, now I'll start my admission and counselling process story which happened in year 2021. First of all I gave VITEEE exam which was conducted from home because of covid situation. Then after half a month or so the results came out and I got a rank of around 18k. Then later on after the ranks came out, after 2 weeks or so the counselling process started. VIT made a group of some people in a batch and went for FCFS for the admission. Since i had a rank of below 20k so I was in the first batch. Now the counselling process was completely online and we were supposed to fill in our choices which will be alloted according to the availability. To conclude, the admission and counselling process was hassle free and appropriate.
Interview Experience
No VIT doesn't take any Group Discussion or Interview for the admission process, though it conducts a written test called VITEEE which has to be given by the student in order to take admission in any of the VIT campuses. The written test had 3 sections of Chemistry,Maths and Physics having around 25 questions each but they often change the total number of questions every year. The difficulty of the questions will be from easy to moderate. Solving Ncert Questions regularly is sufficient for clearing the exam.
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal | Computer Science And engineering
I didn't opt for Manipal because of it's very high fees which yields a low return on investment.
