Remarks
This is college is good for engineering knowledge and placements. Infrastructure is average. But, campus life is very good. This college students are highly appreciated within Nagpur city.
Entrance Preview
This is the best college of Nagpur (After VNIT). This college has a very transparent system in terms of Fee structure, admission process, semester exams and placements. This college had more than 80% when I joined it. If you are a 6 pointer then this college will definitely find a job for you.
Course Curriculum Overview
A curriculum was no different from other engineering colleges. In the first year, all students study the same subjects. In the second year, students are divided according to their department. The big difference between SRCOEM and other colleges is it has the excellent extracurricular environment. There are a lot of committees, you can join anyone as per your wish such as Students representative council, Each department has their own student body, NSS, WAD etc.
Internships Opportunities
If we talk about internship, this college don't provide any internship programs. Students have to find out a company for internship on their own. Sometimes professors can recommend you and help you to find a company for internship. But, its rare.
Placement Experience
This is the main advantage of this college. If you managed to score a 6 pointer (which is too easy), you will definitely get placed in very reputed companies. In our placement year (2015), placement percentage was more than 92%. So, you can imagine the rest. Here, approximately 60% of students are placed in Information Technology companies. Core companies visit, but they hire students whom you can count on fingers.
College Events
The most celebrated event of the college is Pratishruti which is our annual festival. In Pratishruti, there are many technical and non-technical events. Apart from events, there is one cultrul night in which celebrities are invited to perform. Next one is Aaruni, which is a freshers event. This event is associated with many activities like mr/mrs fresher, fashion show, dance and singing events. Apart from these, each branch have their own installation program which is kind of small Pratishruti for that particular branch. We have also techanical events like robotics etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is little bit expensive for outsiders (not from Nagpur). Fee is paid on yearly basis and its approximately one lakh for a year. So, total cost of fee is around four lakhs for engineering. Hostel is little bit expensive, its annual fee is also about one lakh. Hostel fee includes accommodation 7 mess charges excluding laundry and breakfast charges.
Fees and Financial Aid
In campus, we have a UCO bank branch and an ATM too. Only toppers of branch are eligible for scholarship. There is no loan loan facility provided by college. Students have to arrange loan on their own.
Campus Life
Campus is small and its spread across 20 acres on a hilly area. Gender ration is 1:3 (male : Female) in IT, computer science and electronics & communication. But e=when we talk about other branches, male students are much more than female students for example there were five girls in mechanical in the batch of 80. Every branch have computer labs and practical labs. All labs are good equipped expect computer labs. Students organised many events like robotics, inter branch cup which includes literary cup and sports cup. Overall campus life is very good in this college. you will have many things to enjoy.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accommodation is not that good. There are rooms on individual and sharing basis. Room size is small. It can hardly accommodate two beds, two study tables, two study chairs, one fan and one tube light. In summer, cooler is charged separately, approximately 1500 per month for a double/singe room. Bathrooms are also average.
Alumni/Alumna
College have good alumni base. They also have alumni committee which organizes alumni meet every year. These alumni are also helping college in terms of college placements.
Exam Structure
Exam pattern is based on semester system for Engineering, MBA and MCA students. There are eight semester for engineers. Typically each semester have five core subjects are two to three practical subjects. Srcoem is have autonomy. So they had adopted CGPA Grading pattern. Massing marks of any subject decided on the basis of relative grading. This is beneficial for students because it's easier to pass semester in comparison to university system.
Admission
I got admission through All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) which is no longer valid. My score in AIEEE was 135. All Maharashtra colleges have 15% quota for other states ((I am from Rajasthan). So, i got admission through 15% quota on the basis of AIEEE score. Admission was through counselling where all students were invited and were called on the basis of their score and seats ere allocated accordingly.
Faculty
Most of the experienced faculty of SRCOEM are alumni of VNIT Nagpur. So, they are well qualified. This is a old college. So, every department has significant number of senior faculties. All important subjects are taught by senior professors. Here attitude of some Marathi professors is not good. They are biased on the languages. Otherwise all professors have good technical knowledge.
