An Engineer's Paradise

The course I chose was a B-Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Why? Because my curiosity was always inclined to the evolution of gadgets. How a big capacitor setup was used for storing 1 MB of data back at the early 1900s evolved in terms of functionality while diminishing in size and the fact that a single chip can store several gigabytes of data in the current world amazed me. The main reason i was fascinated by this college was its necessarily rigorous academic structure. The teachers were excellent and they stressed on the practical aspect of a topic and there were practical classes scheduled every week. The course was of 4- year duration. In the first year , they concentrated on brushing up our basics which i thought to be extremely necessary and from the second year onwards, the college adhered to the general curriculum. Apart from academics, regular sport tournament and tech fests were organized each year where students from other eminent colleges also participated. The students of the college were regularly groomed for the campus interviews and for the enhancement of their softskills. The grooming sessions gained more prominence at the start of the fourth year.

Summer Internship programmes were held every year from companies like Hp, Bharat petroleum, coal india, globsyn, ibm, sap, Indian Railways, Bsnl and many others

The college treated the placement of prime importance and rigorous trainings and mock placements were conducted before the campus placement drive. Approx 30 companies visited on an off campus. It giants like Oracle, SAP, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Capegimini and other companies like Johnson controls, Hitachi, mindtree, sapient nitro visited our college.

The total fee was around 3.61 lacs for a full time course back in 2012, subject to change in the present time. The semester fees ranged from 37500-39500 and an advance payment of Rs. 60000 and separate 13000 rupees for security deposits which was refunded after completing the course.

Though i was a daily traveler i heard the hostels were clean and secure. There were separate hostels for boys and girls with separate volleyball/ badminton field, few of the activities in which the hoteliers would like to engage in during leisure. The food served by the hostel was fresh and had variety. The hostel served lunch and dinner on weekends and dinner and breakfast on weekdays.

The faculty are really nice there. They start from the basics so the candidates do not face any inconveniences while learning a new topic. They are ready to help 24*7. Before campus placements, it was the credit of the faculty with the help of whom we went through in the campus placements Which converted to a whopping 91 percentage. Approximately 114 out of 122 appeared students were placed by 2017.
