Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Overall, the ECE program at IIEST Shibpur has a strong foundation. You'll get the core concepts of electronics, communication, and signal processing. They do touch on some industry stuff like VLSI and IoT, but it could be more in-depth to keep up with the latest tech. I like that you get some choice with electives. For real-world jobs, more hands-on projects and industry connections would be a big plus. If you're into research, IIEST Shibpur is a good place for that, but they could do more to get undergrads involved early on. Here's where I think it needs work: Keep it Current: Tech changes fast! They should update the courses more often with things like 5G, AI in telecom, etc. Teach Differently: Less lectures, more projects, and real-world examples would make it way better. Build Skills: Some focused training on what the industry actually uses – specific software, hardware skills – that would be gold! The exams are tough but fair – if you stay on top of things, you'll do alrigh

Fees and Financial Aid

IIEST Shibpur has a tiered fee system, meaning your costs depend on family income. Check the official website for the exact breakdown. It includes tuition, hostel (if you need it), plus some smaller fees. Fee hikes are possible but usually infrequent and reasonable. Scholarships are definitely available! IIEST Shibpur offers merit-based awards and special ones for economically disadvantaged or SC/ST/OBC students. They also have some financial aid for those struggling. Plus, check out external scholarships from the government or private organizations. Campus jobs exist, but might be a bit limited. Look for Teaching Assistant roles in the ECE department, library assistant positions, or see if any professors need research help. Stipends will vary.

Campus Life

5

Festivals: REBECA: This is the big one! It's the oldest tech fest in India and happens in February. Expect tech competitions, workshops, cultural events, and some amazing performances. INCANDESCENCE: This is IIEST's annual cultural fest, typically in March. It's all about music, dance, drama, and lots of fun. Clubs: Where Your Interests Thrive There's a decent mix of clubs at IIEST! Some I was involved with: DebSoc (Debating Society): If you like a good debate, this is your place. CodeIIEST: The coding club – regular challenges, workshops, and even helps prep for placements. Photography Club: They organize exhibitions, workshops, and photowalks. Infrastructure: Library: It's got a good collection of books and journals, mostly engineering-focused. More online resources would be awesome. Classrooms: They vary. Some older buildings have basic setups, but newer ones have better tech – projectors, smartboards, etc.

Admission

Admissions at IIEST Shibpur IIEST Shibpur offers admissions to various undergraduate (B.Tech, B.Arch), postgraduate, and doctoral programs. I'll focus on the B.Tech admission process as an example. Eligibility Qualifying Exam: You must have passed your Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board. Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are mandatory subjects. Minimum Marks: You need at least 75% aggregate marks (or 65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). Entrance Exam: You must secure a valid rank in the Joint Entrance Examination Mains (JEE Main). Application Process JoSAA Counseling: Admission to B.Tech programs at IIEST Shibpur is centralized through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Cut-offs Cut-off ranks for IIEST Shibpur vary from year to year and depend on factors like the number of applicants, seat availability, and overall exam difficulty.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
