Remarks
College administration was a bit strict but now I realize that it was correct. To handle the mischiefs of the top talent in your campus is a big job and they handled it well.
Entrance Preview
I appeared for the AIMCET exam and scored 99.9 percentile. This is the only IIT that offered MCA so I opted for it.
Internships Opportunities
I got an internship in DRDO. Though I got a chance to give an internship exam for 4 more companies including IBM, Sun MicroSystems, and Integrity Systems, I chose DRDO as there was a bit of research in that internship.
Placement Experience
The placement is very good. At that time, there were almost 250 computer science, Electrical, and Electronics students, and almost 150 companies were supposed to come. Almost all got selected.
College Events
No need to tell you about the technical excellence of the IITs so I'd skip this one. There are a lot of events. Every year, there is a technical event called Cognizance and then a cultural event called Thomso. We enjoy those 10 days. Almost 50 colleges participate in those.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was standard and very cheap as it was IIT. We used to pay Rs. 18000/= as semester fee and another Rs. 750/= per month towards mess charges.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were many internships available. Other than the 5 scholarships per semester for deserving students, there were others which were quota based. Overall, 10 students out of 30 could be covered via internships.
Campus Life
Campus life was good but college administration was strict than other colleges. We had almost everything from playgrounds for Cricket, Basketball, Tennis, a swimming pool and a lot of other facilities. There was a big library and we got another. There was an Information Super Highway (Computer Centre) too other than the cafe in the hostel.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel has Wi-fi enabled now. For Rs. 750/ per month towards mess charges, it was good food. It was better than other campuses where we hear continuous reports of food-poisoning.
Alumni/Alumna
We used to meet our immediate seniors and others frequently. There were good interactions whenever required. They helped us in many ways including some of the books, materials for placements, and how to achieve gradually and steadily.
Exam Structure
The exam structure for the Master's courses was very good. We have few choices and most of the exams are on different dates. We could choose our schedules in some cases.
Faculty
The faculties were awesome. I was fortunate to learn a lot under a lot of the best faculty in India. MCA course was an inter-disciplinary course and I got to interact with 5 departments' faculties.
