What Students Say
Likes
- I liked how there are people from diverse backgrounds here. It helped me get to know a lot of people from outside my hometown and was a great experience I wouldn't want to miss out on.
- The hostel has been a great place to stay in and compared to PGs and rooms have many more facilities and is rented at a very affordable rate and is very safe.
- The teachers in the college have been super friendly right from the beginning and are pretty much like friends to us and this makes the whole process of learning so much easy and we don't need to feel bad about asking them doubts and talking to them.
Dislikes
- Gender inequality shown towards the girls many a times by some male staff during sports shows and about watching them.
- Partiality towards local people and looking down on people from other states and countries by the local students and teachers.
- Classes kept during late evening (4.30-5.30 pm) that tire us out and the students can't concentrate as classes start right from 8.30 am
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason I chose this course was because of my genuine interest and intrigue in the nature of the course. Joining this college has only made it increase. The course covers exactly what I'd hoped it to and never fails to keep me engaged in classes. The practicals are even more exciting and help us get used to the nature of the course. The teachers are very friendly and make classes more fun and engaging too.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is satisfactory and differs given the course and second language chosen. It is decently affordable and reasonable. The fees given for my first year (BA CFS) was 60000. The college also helps us land internships wherever we desire in the last years of our course and have a seperate department for helping in the same.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life in St. Philomena's College has been commendable and remarkable. The college treats extra curricular activities with the same importance as curricular activities if not more. It is taken very seriously and all students are encouraged to participate in every program no matter sports, cultural activities, talent shows, etc. The college has a variety of competitions like makeup competition, vegetable carving competition, etc. that help kids who are talented in the same showcase their talents as such competitions are not so commonly seen in other institutions and this I believe is a remarkable attribute of the college. The library also has a vast range of books, including everything needed for study purposes and fiction and non fiction books. Sports shows are very enthusiastic and all the students are given time off classes so they can attend the same and cheer on the participants.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility provided in the college is pretty commendable compared to anywhere else. It is facilitated with almost everything needed and is run in a systematic order by the warden. The rooms are spacious and not too overcrowded by members. Everyone is given their own lockers for keeping their belongings. The food provided is also according to a timetable and is provided in the very spacious mess hall. The food is decent and as opposed to conventional hostel food doesn't cause health issues. The food served throughout the week is a varied menu. The registration process was easy and guided through well by the warden. The hostel fees are pretty affordable and reasonable for the facilities provided here.
Admission
The admission process went all good and smooth. There were no entrance tests, it was based on solely marks. One of the faculty members asked why I had chosen the college and why I had opted for the course I took. It was a convenient and easy process due to the efficient work done by the faculty.
