A Comprehensive Review of BIT Mesra

The course curriculum at BIT Mesra is designed to be both releveent to the current industry trends and comprehensive enough to provide students with a strong foundation in their chosen field. There is emphasis on practical applications and many research opportunities are also given. While BIT Mesra's course curriculum is good, there are always areas for improvement. I think the elective courses should be more diversified and the curriculum should be periodically reviewed. The exams are conducted almost every month and there are 2 major examinations in each semester - mid semester examination and end semester examination which are generally held at a gap of 2 months in each semester. The exams are pretty doable if one studies regularly.

BIT Mesra collaborates with a wide range of companies across sectors such as IT, finance, manufacturing, consulting, etc. Most of the top companies offer internship in our college including Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, etc. The stipends generally range from 50k to 2L.

In our college, students become eligible for placements from 7th and 8th semester, i.e the final year of undergraduate program. The placements are very good. The highest package was 58Lpa and average is around 11.6Lpa. The average for CSE branch is around 22Lpa. Almost all of the companies visit BIT Mesra for on-campus placements and almost 80-90% of the students get placed.

The tuition fees for BIT Mesra this year is around 4L per year for BTECH course. Including hostel, mess, and other miscellanious fees the complete cost for the 4 year BTECH course comes to be around 20L. Scholarships are also given based on merit and on financial condition.

The campus life in BIT Mesra is pretty good. There are 2 major fests which are held in our college, - the technical fest named Pantheon which is held in the month of september and the cultural fest named Bitotsav which is held in the month of March. Along with that there are other fests too like diwali fest named Dipotsav, Sports fest and E-Summit. The library is also well equipped with all the books and journals one needs and it is vary spacious too. The classrooms are also fully air conditioned with proper seatings and smartboards too. There is also a Sports complex which provides all the sports equipments and needs. There are also many student run clubs in our college for almost all of the extra curriculur fields.

The hostel provided is pretty average. The rooms are quite small and comes with a bed, a table, a chair and a shelf. The mess menu is quite diverse and includes meals 4 times a day however the food quality is pretty average. The registration for hostel is done on the same day as that for college registration and the fees for hostel is 20000 per semester.

For B.TECH and IMSC programs the admission is done through JEE MAINS rank. The cutoff for General Male for CSE branch starts from 98.5%. Along with that the students must also have passed their 10+2 examinations with a minimum aggregate of 75%. The application form for joining will be present online on the website. BIT Mesra follows the reservation policy of government of India for admission. Reservation benefits were provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PWD. I think the admission process can be improved by either reducing the number of applicants or by increasing the seats as only top 1% of the students get admission in good colleges as of now.
