A detailed description of SVIST

This college follows MAKAUT curriculum. Thus the overall relevance of the cirriculum is quite good however, it lacks behind a bit in terms of preparing us for real-world application. The faculty needs improvement. Only a handfull of teachers are excellent and worthy of an engineering institute. The exxams are held quite frequently with moderate to above average difficulty.

The college provides internship opportunities through giving us links to websites such as intershala which is prominently known for providing several companies for internship to qualified students. They also give links from companies so that we have a wide variety to choose from.

Students become eligible for campus placements from 6th semester. Several prominent comanies visit the campus such as TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, etc. The avergae package lingers around 2-3 lpa and the highest offered was around 6 lpa. Approximately around 70-80 per cent of the students get placed in the companies through campus placements. I also plan to get into one such company after completing my degree.

During admission, this college charges you around 68000, and from 2nd semester, it goes on as 44000, 45000(3, 4 sem), 46000(5, 6 sem), 46000(7,8 sem). They also take around 100rs for each examination conducted in the semester finals. They have a scholarship programm which provides the student with 60000rs per year if the given student keeps his academic performance over 60 percent. The courses here are frankly wuite affordable.

A few fests are held each year. The library is well equipped with a wide variety of academic books however, recreational books are rather limited. The classroooms are well-equipped with digital boards(tv). There are a wide variety of sport facilities available in our campus such as badminton, volleyball, Football, cricket, table tennis, carrom, etc. Our college however, lacks in the extra curricular clubs.

The admission process was a bit uncomfortable. It was quite hectic. I took WBJEE entrance exam and through its counselling process, was assigned this college in the second round. I felt as though I wasn't given enough time to consider the college. I got the application form from the admission cell, and the tution fees rounds upto around 4 lacs for 4 years of B.TECH in CSE. The exams held in this college are rather frequent however not too difficult. What I would like to suggest is to give a more detailed tour of the college during the admission process.
