My experience at IIT BHU

Iam persuing a major in Materials Science and Technology in IIT BHU. I have chosen the course because Iam inclined towards the topics involved in this course and like to read and explore more about this branch. The curriculum in IIT is one of it's best as it gives exposure to all kinds of things in life. And the subject which I have chosen gives me more insight about the materials used around us and it's applications. The Course curriculum and the teaching methods at my institute are of top notch quality.

The companies which came for the internship included Google, microsft, infosys, and all major companies. There were also core companies which also offered good amount of stipend. The stipend amount ranges from ?25000to ?200000.

After 6th Semester, Students become eligible for Campus placements and they can apply for both On campus as well as Off Campus placements. The placement rate at IIT BHU is excellent with an average package of 23 Lakhs per Annum. The highest package was ?1.2 Crores. There are so many companies coming including Apple. Google, Microsoft, Infosys, etc. The percentage of students getting placed varies from 87-90%.My plans after getting the degree is to settle by getting a good job.

The tuition fee in IIT BHU is quite affordable. There are no such hikes in case of fees. The complete cost of my education amounts to ? 250000 a year. A wide amount of scholarships are available for students which include 1) Kotak Kanya scholarship which ?150000 a year. 2) NSP scholarship etc As Iam still a sophomore, I didn't take up any campus responsibilities etc.

There are so many technical fests namely 1) Spardha held in September 2) Kashiyatra in January 3) FMC Weekend in November 4) Technex in March 5) E-Summit in February There are wide range of books accessible to us in Library including fictions novels and wide range of books available for every branch of engineering and other domains. All the classrooms are digitalised with and a wide blackboard for teaching purpose and seating capacity of 150 students per class.

The meal quality offered here is awesome. We have the hostel facility within the campus of IIT BHU which is an advantage for us. All the members of IIT BHU are allotted hostels at the time of admission only by the Institute and there is no issue in availability of hostels. The meal quality here is awesome as we get wide variety of food including Pav Bhaji, Chole Bhature, Rasgulla, pasta, Noodles, Samosa, Momos etc at night and nitritious Dal, rice and various fruits in the lunch.

The admission process was simple. There are 2 exams conducted namely 1) JEE Mains 2) JEE Advanced We need to qualify JEE Mains with a good percentile in order to be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced and then secure a good rank in JEE Advanced for seat in IIT. For me, there was no reservation included, so the cut-off for JEE Advance was 90 percentile. I secured 98.45 percentile in JEE Mains. After 3 months of JEE Mains, we had our JEE Advanced which is considered as 2 nd most difficult exam in India .
