Inside NITK:Student experiences and beyond

There are no specific aspects that made me choose this course . I was interested in electronics.I thought this course in this college would be a comparatively better option based on my rank and many other factors. And coming to the curriculum, CORE COURSES: These are the fundamental courses that every student of that particular discipline should take up. ELECTIVES:These are the courses that are choosen by the students based upon their interest of study. PRACTICAL SESSIONS: These complement the theoritical learning and provide the hands on experience with the tools in the labs. PROJECTS:These are an integral part of the curriculum and often require students to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired to solve real world problems or undertake research in their field. EXAMINATIONS: Throughout the academic year students are evaluated through a combination of exams quizzes , assignments and project presentations.These assessments help gauge students understanding of the material.

INSTITUTE SPONSERED INTERNSHIPS:nitk collaborates with various industries ,reserch organisations and govt agencies to offer internships to the students. SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS:Many companies both within india and abroad offer internship programs specifically designed for engineering students.nitk assists students in finding and applying for these programmes which typically take place during the summer break between acaemic semesters. RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS PLACEMENT CELL ASSISTANCE: the placement cell at nitk assists students in securing internships by facilitating interactions with companies,organising internship fairs and providing guidance on resume writing, interview prep and networking.

Specific placement figures vary from year to year as they depend on many factors .Typically, NITK surathkal boasts a string placement record with reputable companies visiting the campus for recruitment.A high percentage of students secure job offfers during campus placements. I recommend referring to the official placement reports released by NITK surathkal.

Tution fee will be different for different semesters.Mostly it will be aroung 70k-80k. The hostel and mess fess will be around 35k. There are no other compulsory chnarges. There are many scholarships provided by the college to the students and the complete information which includes names and the eligibility criteria will be provided in the nitk official website.

There are 2 libraries in the campus.Most of the times ,books will be available but the soft copies of all the books will be provided.There are majorly 2 fests.One is a technical one and the other is cultural fest and the fests will be for 3 or 4 days. College classrooms are designed to provide a comfortable,functional and conducive learning environment that supports a wide range of teaching and learning activities. Some of the common clubs and societies are: Technical clubs focus on various technical disciplines such as robotics,coding,electronics etc.Cultural clubs promote artistic expression , creativity and diversity on campus.They conduct various competitions also.Sports clubs cater to students interested in various sports and physical activites.They oraganise inter nit tournaments and many other tournaments within the campus also.The other clubs are yoga,debating clubs etc.

The quality of the meals varies but generally aims for: nutritional balance,hygiene and food safety,menu variety,feedback mechanisms.fresh ingredients,varied cooking methods,appropriate serving portions and accomodation of special dietary needs. During the final registration process in the campus , the mess and hostel allotmet is done according to our choice.

After 12th , we need to appear for the entrance examination jee for securing seat in nitk surathkal.The cut offs change every year.Then after the exam, in the josaa counselling process if our seat gets confirmed in a particular college, you will be receiving the seat allocation letter.You need to pay nearly 35k for the seat acceptance which will be later deducted from the tution fee.My air rank was around 20k and my obc rank was around 5k for which I got into this college .NITK surathkal will provide you the login credentials for the iris website(official website for staff and students), you need to log in and pay the remaining fee. On the joining day, you need to bring all the necessary documents which include seat allocation letter and jee mains score card and fee payment bills.Then the remaining registration process will be done in the college.
