What Students Say
Likes
- Some faculties at RNSIT are really creative and hard working and are ready to help students
Dislikes
- Location: RNSIT is located far away from the main city of Bangalore thus travelling anywhere is hectic. It is around 50 kms away from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
- Not much holidays are provided and also a strict attendance policy of 85% is followed, not allowing students to explore several educational opportunities other than college. Not much exposure offered.
- RNSIT is affiliated to VTU and thus exam is scheduled by VTU. However, it is always delayed and is quite hectic. Semester breaks are too short and become shorter due to delayed exams.
Course Curriculum Overview
RNSIT is affiliated to VTU and hence follows its curriculum. The curriculum prepares students for real-world applications or further academic pursuits as well. The excellent teaching methods allows students to grasp on concepts and the study materials provided are based on the latest exam pattern.
Internships Opportunities
There are Internships opportunities, also the paid ones for students with good performance. Internships are to be done in the semester breaks which is very short. No holidays/ breaks are allowed for other internships(outside of college).
Placement Experience
Placements are not at par with the emerging trends. Average placement is around 5-6 lakhs. With 11.5 lakhs being invested for the degree, an ROI of 5-6 lakhs is not satisfactory. However, an increase in placements also is expected in coming years.
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fees for students admitted via COMEDK would be around 11.5 lakhs(excluding hostel fees). Scholarships are available for Karnataka students i.e. SSC scholarship. 10% tuition fees hike per year is applicable to all colleges under COMEDK.
Campus Life
2 fests, Parichay(Intra college fest) and Pantheon(Inter college fest)take place(Alternate years). RNSIT has a major lacking towards campus and infrastructure. The whole campus area, claimed 160 acres, is also not fully utilised. Classrooms aren't well equipped (not every classroom has projectors). No AC, not even in computer labs. The Temple inside the college is beautiful and very peaceful. The RNSIT auditorium is also beautifully designed and has a seating capacity of 1800 students. Sports and extracurricular activities do take place oftenly. Clubs are active, particularly fashion, music and dance. Tech-based groups are mostly undercover. However, the college is now starting to organise hackathons and more even for first sem students. Overall, development is expected in all spheres but gradually.
Admission
Admission to RNSIT can be taken through COMEDK, KCET and Management Quota. I took admission for Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering through COMEDK, my rank being 9571.The opening and closing COMEDK rank for the same was 7461 and 11782
