Review on NIT ROURKELA

I chose this of computer science course because i like coding and wanted to study further in the field. The curriculum is a bit behind in todays world as they focus more on theory rather than applications. The exams were held at vwry short intervals in 1st year but we were given 4 momths for 2nd semester. So we got plenty of time to study and difficulty level was moderate

The students from the pre-final year are bound to undergo an internship or industrial exposure in the summer before the final year begins. A lot of companies from various domains visit the campus for different roles that include software developer, management trainee, project trainee and others. The stipend ranges from 20KPM to 1.5LPM

From the 6th or 7th semester onwards, students become eligible for placements. Google Microsoft Apple Amazon Deloitte BPCL Wipro GAIL BEL have been the top recruiters.The NIT Rourkela CSE average package offered stood at INR 24.07 LPA and the overall highest package offered stood at INR 83.60 LPA. The average package in BTech has been 15.47 LPA. More than 95% of students got placed. After getting the degree ive planned on doing masters in business administration.

So the tution fee is 62500rs per semester but the ones who have reservation don't have to pay it. Student activity fee-2000 Medical fee-2000 Establishment fee-500 Hostel fees-5000 Mess fee-30000 We were availed a lot of scholarship opportunities such as Buddy4study, lic scholarship schemes and Kotak kanya for girls. I can't say anything anything about job roles and stipend as i haven't taken any and I'm in my 1st year.

The campus life here has been really very good as the campus is very big and very beautiful with many facilities. There are a lot of fests here like Innovision which is a tech fest and it takes place in November, Vriddhi(sports fest) in november, Cosmopolitan (ethnic fest) in January and Nitrutsav(literary and cultural fest) in march. There's a variety of books in the library and NITR library is Asia's largest digital library. The books can be borrowed from library and it has to be reissued every 21 days otherwise we have to pay fine. The facilities provided in the classrooms are very poor as the projectors don't work and it gets difficult. The sports and extra curricular activities in the college is very good . There are a lot of clubs in nitr and some are very good as they help us gain experience, work in groups and explore aur chosen domains.

The room provided is not so bad but still needs improvement. There are 3 hostels for girls and 7 for boys. The facilities provided in girls hostels is quite good like the study rooms, gym, departmental store, beauty parlours. The meal quality is very bad and can sometimes make you sick. The registration process was on 1st come, 1st serve basis.

The admission process was good as i got my seat in the course of BTech in Computer science and engineering in the first round of jossa. The application process was stressful. The application form was available in the website of nit rourkela www.nitrkl.ac.in. Since i got reservation benefits, i had to submit my caste certificate to avail it. The exams held at very short intervals during the 1st yr of my course. The 1st semester was only e months long which was quite difficult for us. And the level of exams are generally moderate to very little hard. Improvement should be done in the application process and fee paying process during admission as most of the times, the links didn't work and it was stressful.
