Entrance Preview

Based on 10+2 result, the merit list was declared based on marks . The present days cut off is generally around 91% in the fourth list. I opted for this as this was one of the best colleges for commerce education in Kolkata.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college presently offeres B.Com (H) course, M.COM and MBA courses (Finance,Marketing and HR specialization). We had Accountancy, Cost and Management, Auditing, Economics, Mathematics, Costing and Taxation as our honours papers in B.Com.

Internships Opportunities

We did not have internship programmes those days. However, the college has started sending students for summer internship programes for the MBA program, where the stipend varies from 2000-3000 (approx.) per month.

Placement Experience

Many companies like TCS, Unisys, Tech Mahindra, Federal bank, etc come for placement drives. The starting salary is generally more than Rs 20,000.

College Events

The college celebrates Republic day, IndependenceDay, College Foundation day, etc. where students perform culutural programmes also awarded certificate for participation. Besides, the college also observes sports day every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers a number of scolarships, like NR Burdhan Scholarship based on talent and some based on financial status. It also awards special scholarship for female students and another scholarship awarded by the Ex Student Asscociation of Goenka college of commerce and Business Administration.

Placement Experience:

There are placements in the college campus in the last semester with several companies coming for interviews such as big 4 and big 6 companies and the placements are around 60000-70000 per month after the course.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Various Jewelleries company has visited, and even companies like Google, Tata and many has visited. As per i know the highest package were in lacs per month. The college provides 100% placement. After getting the degree, I'll do masters in business administration.

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

I did chose this course to learn more about accounting and finance and the cirriculum prepares you perfectly for the real world. The exams were conducted very soon in few semester only giving 3 months for the students to prepare . the professors were good at teaching and somehow used to complete the syllabus

SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.

INSIGHTS OF GCCBA

Goenka college of commerce and business administration is the second best college in Kolkata and the best college under Calcutta University. Hence it has a brand value. I got admission offers in SXUK, Jaipuria THK Jain and Bhawanipur college, But this was the best option I had. The admission process is through your boards marks. Proud to be Goenkan

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years....Read More

Admissions were granted based on the results of the 12th grade. The morning session had a higher cutoff (94% for general category) compared to the day session (92% for general category).
