Best college in the city.

The degree you get from this college has some value as it contains the name JSS which will be respected.

As it is the best in Dharwad city. When it comes to BCA there is no other college which comes close to this one. The staff is very talented and supportive. It also has a very good track record in terms of sports and academics. It has some decent reports in terms of placements. I can say a 40% chance.

The course curriculum is a bit outdated as I would say. Even our HOD was not happy with the course curriculum. It's not the fault of the college. The university should update the curriculum. I would say the classes are not hectic as it starts from 9.30am and goes on till 2.30pm. If you have a lab then it goes till 4.30 pm.

I studied BCA so I have not come across any internships as such. I don't think if any such thing is provided by any BCA college.

Placements are very average. You can expect either TCS or Infosys and sometimes Wipro too. I myself have been placed into Infosys and 10 others from our batch had been selected out of 104 students. Most of my classmates could not clear the cut off placed by Infosys that is minimum of 60% in pic 2. And those who did couldn't clear the aptitude test and interview so only 10 students could make it through. You can expect the package of 1.8Lpa to 2.5Lpa.

For freshers, there is a fresher party conducted by final year batch. There is send off party too for final year students conducted by freshers and 2nd-year batch students. The internal fest is conducted by each department in JSS. And one big inter-college fest is also conducted.

The fee structure is average. Without the scholarship, I guess its about 13000 Rupees per semester as of 2018. I don't know the latest numbers. Considering the facilities you get I would say the fees are feasible. That's all I can say. If you find it expensive then better talk with management and try to get a few scholarships.

Sportsperson will get scholarships from the college. If you are from sc st or obc category then you may get it too. Students belonging to Hyderabad Karnataka regions have scholarships too

Campus life is amazing I would say. The campus is so huge as it contains institutions from lkg to MBA. You will find a 6year old child to an MBA graduate except engineering. The campus is the best in Dharwad city. You will be mesmerized by the campus the day you enter.

I never lived in the hostel as I was a locality. But I had friends who lived in the hostels and I rarely heard them complain about the hostel or the food. Some of them shifted out of hostels as they had restrictions of entering and exiting timing in hostels. Food is good no need to worry about that.

Alumni network is very poor. But CS department hod is trying hard to gather their past students and form an alumni network.

An exam is conducted every semester. Each semester has 2 internals and 1 external and 1 lab external. The total percentage of your degree is calculated by the average of your total score. 6th semester does not have lab external. For them, they should make a project and present it. It will consist of a team of 2 and you can take 3rd party help from outside coaching institutions. You will get a guide from one of their staff's from college.

The admission process is very simple. If you have scored more than 70 percentile in PUC then you will get it very easily. There is no such cut off for BCA. You should just have cleared your pic that's enough. It also has some scholarship thing. The process is simple too.

The teachers are very talented and have good knowledge in their respective fields. They clear any kinds of doubts and are always supportive. Sometimes you may face some hurdles from staff and hod but its all for your betterment. It helps you face the stress of the outside world and that's for sure. Our batch has been through worst and I can say that for our juniors too. It's very strict in terms of discipline.
