My college review

Good college, but need to work in many areas to provide better facilities. Placement is little dissatisfaction regarding mechanical and civil due to lack of core, good infrastructure and facilities for students like in transportation.

The course curriculum was very useful. It depends on the University you are affiliated with. Some of the universities offer you an eight-semester be course and some other six with the first year, that makes you six semesters plus one year equaling to eight semesters. The college works as per the rules and regulations of the Visvesvaraya technological university.

No college doesn't provide any internship, but support the students for internships and other academic activities in other organizations etc. And also conducts many extra circular courses which may help in the future for students. There is very less placement for mechanical students but for electronics and computer science, there are a lot of placements.

We have a tech zone fest every year. People from all over India participate in the events. They are winning huge prizes. At least Rs. 10,000 is offered for every robotics event. Techzone is the technical fest of Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering, Shimoga. They call it a national technical symposium. Yes!! It is. It is open for students from all over India. But what it lacks is students.

Course fees are as per state govt rules and college also has some overall development fees it is a little bit expensive. The average expense for the year is nearly 1lakhs -1.5lakhs including hostels and transportation facilities.

No scholarships are available from college, but the government provides some scholarships and facilities for the students based on their caste and categories like Vidya Siri, post-matric and also from some private institutions and organization.

Laboratories are very well-equipped. All the labs are advanced in technology. The classroom is well and good and also having a projector screen. We have cricket playground which is the best playground, Ranji trophy match is played, our college won some of the trophies in inter college sports, classrooms are upgraded to smart class, A good canteen, gym, indoor badminton hall, etc.

Yes, the college has an alumni network, which guides there students, and provides guidance. Alumni network calls for a meeting once in a year. And it also helps the students by conducting workshops, presentations etc.

After completion of 12th or PUC 2nd year with a science background. Admission can be done through Karnataka common admission test. This test provides the rank to students, for the admissions in colleges.

Jawaharlal Nehru national college of engineering was established in the year 1980. The department of mechanical engineering has well qualified, dedicated faculty members to fulfill the requirements of quality education and support for the students. Lectures are well experienced and student friendly. Few of them are pursuing Ph.D. student to teacher ratio is about 15:1.
