Likes
- The campus is really very beautiful like which college in whole India have its own private beach but our college do have it xd. The infrastructure is very good like you will get proper lighted classrooms and even the classrooms are fully furnished.
- The course is very well prepared and even the curriculum is best. Teaching method is very good, the teachers are so cooperative and are highly qualified (ofcourse many of them are from iits). They are really passing about teaching and research. )
- Lastly speaking about internship and placement, the placement and internship are very great in NITK , the course which they teach is completely enough for any placement and internship. Even you can do internships in research. It is the best college.
Dislikes
- There are no such bad things about the college but one thing that may bother some people is the language barrier (if you are from north). It will take some time to adjust to the food(but it is far better than other colleges).
- Common man you are in one of the top NITs there are no such rigid things which you can dislike about the college. It is the best place to spend your four years of graduation.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and curriculum which we study is completely well and good and it is proved to be the best curriculum by providing the best engineers to the society. The main reason which made me to get into this field is that I am very passionate about mechanical engineering and want to make career out of it and NITK is the best place to begin with. The frequency of the test and exams is very great like in every semester there will be 2 quizzes along with midsem and endsem. Lot of class tests will also be there very week or at every 15 days. The question paper they set really requires thorough understanding of the concepts and mugging up things won't work in many of the courses.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities at the campus are also great. You will get opportunity to get internship opportunities at very good companies like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Flipkart and many more. The least stipend provided is almost 10000 rupees per month. You will get lot of learnings from your internships. You can even get internship in college itself under any prof which will be research oriented internship in which you can even write and publish your own research paper.
Placement Experience
The campus placement opportunities are very great. There will be placement season on college in seventh semester. There are many companies including FAANG which come to college campus and provide a very great opportunity. The highest package was of 50 lpa and the average package of college is bout 15 lpa. Almost 90% of the students get placed every year. My plans are to get a good job after completing my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
As mentioned earlier the total tuition fee per sem is 62500 but if your family income is less than 1 lakh per annum complete fee remission is provided and if it is between 1 lakh to 5 lakh per annum then 50% of the tuition fee remission is provided by the college. And yes there will be lot of scholarships and financial provided by the govt. which any student can avail.
Campus Life
There are basically two events of college one is cultural fest known as incident which is held in March and the other is technical fest known as engineer which is held in October. There are two libraries one is central library and the other is e library which consists of numerous books of all domains whether they are of course domain or in literature section. The classroom is fully furnished you get projector in each classroom. The sports and extracurricular activity is also very good at nitk. There are numerous clubs namely music club, ACM , IEEE , IET , ISTE , astronomy club and many more. These clubs make a very good impact on student life outside the college.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels provided are very good and are well furnished. You will get a bed and a table and chair. You will get unlimited free wifi in college campus . The meal quality which you will get in the hostel is edible only. Specially if you are from north India it is difficult to get adjust with the type of food you will get. The menu offers a very wide variety of food from the entire country. The registration process for hostel is quite easy and you don't have to go to several sections, all the process is online only. And the hostels are affordable. If you are planning to get pg and a rented room then surathkal is the best place to live
Admission
To get admission into NITK one have to clear jee mains with minimum of 97 percentile of you are not from home state and 95 percentile if you are from home state. The above stated percentiles are for male student from gen category. If someone is from OBC then decrease 2-3 percentile from the above mentioned. And for a sc or St student 5-7 percentile difference can be seen. Once you clear jee mains you have to do your counselling at jossa and once you get seat at nit you have to report there offline . And congratulations now you are nitian. The exam is conducted twice every year and the difficult level is considered to be moderate. Faculty
The teacher to student is very good in NITK than other colleges. You can ask any doubt at any time. All faculties are highly qualified and majority of them have completed their studies from IITs. They are well qualified in the field which they teach. As mentioned there is very good teacher to student ratio due to which you can even ask the questions to any of the relevant prof without any hesitation. You can interact with teachers at any time you want. They are always available for you. You can meet them from 8am to 5pm in personal and if you have any doubts even after this time you can mail, WhatsApp or even can call(if prof is chill) at any moment.
