The courses here in IIT Bombay are very important and I can say best among other IITs. If we want to study further higher then definitely the curriculum helps. Improvements can be done in sense of adjustment in semesters. Frequency of exams are justified.

The companies offer internship in my department are Halliburton, Cairn, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, etc. They offer the role of geologist as per our department and they offer other roles also to other departments like chemical engineers etc. But the internship seat to student ratio is very low, so we have to apply off campus on our own to do internships. If any one is doing internships via campus the there is a chance for them to get placed in those companies.

For placement, the students are eligible from 3rd semester onwards. In my department, total 9 of the core companies came and gave offer to approximately 16 to 17 people.The average package is around 20 LPA and most of the profiles are GET in geosciences. Mostly around or more than 50% students are placed.

The fee structure is higher than other institutions but it is because of the facilities IIT Bombay offers to the students. But there are numerous scholarships you can get here. I got MCM (Merit cum means) scholarship where I got 40000 rupees per year for 2 years. There is Ups and Downs in campus placement every year but I didn't enrolled my self in campus recruitment so I didn't get any job from here.

Moodindigo, Techfest, Salsa night along with numerous other events occur throughout the year. There is minimum an event for a month and in winter vacation time there are most of the events going one after another. The clubs in IIT Bombay is very active and the students in clubs are like families. This impacts a student in a good manner as it keeps you light and feels good.

I think we've got the best hostel facilities in India as We get Lan ports in every room, free wifi, bathrooms and toilets are enough for the students and sports section in every hostel. The hostels also have gym and Reading rooms other than Common institute gym and Reading rooms. Meal quality and menu is good but the thing is how much best meal a hostel can provide but students will always complaint about it.

For the course I have chosen the eligibility is to complete a graduation degree as I have enrolled in Masters program. To enter I have cracked a entrance exam called JAM. The application fees was 1500 rupees at my time and the application portal opens in between August to October. The exam happens once in a year and difficulty level is high as it opens the door for IITs. But personally didn't like the reservation system that there is no reservation for General candidates, we are unreserved and any other caste students can occupy our seat even if we have higher ranks than them.

The faculty to student ratio is quite impressive and for learning point of view faculties are always there. But some faculties approach to students good though. We get a faculty as guide in last year but some faculties don't cooperate well with their students.
