Course Curriculum Overview

4

Let's say they teach you whatever basics u need for the course in your first year. From my experiences so far , the course curriculum is well structured for all subjects . For computer science subjects , for example python , c and c plus plus , the course is structed with multiple tests , which allows you to learn and test your knowledge after each topic. The faculty teaches you to solve complex questions , thus improving your skills.

Internships Opportunities

4

Our college offers internships from the 3rd year of your course , that is your 7th semester. Getting an intership from a good company would be harder because of competition in the campus, but if you manage to maintain a decent grade point average throughout your course and also manage to not get any backlogs(dont fail any course) you could bag a good internship. Some companies that visit our campus is TCS ,Deloitte,Wipro etc , looking for software engineers etc.

Placement Experience

3.5

Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai Campus had a 92% placement percentage. The Highest placement being around 1 cr and average is around 12 lakhs. Alot of companies and mass recuriters visit the campus to engineers from VIT chennai. I plan to have my own start up after my degree, which is different from others who plan to work after placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees you are going to pay for all for years of engineering is the fee u pay ur first year, this applies for only tuition fee, hostel fee tends to change, even mess fees tend to change. Fees in vit chennai is different for everyone that is , there is category 1,2,3,4,5 and getting into a category depends on your VITEEE examination rank and the availabilty of seats in your course. Category 1 has the least fee around 2 lakhs and Cat 5 has the highest of 4.9 lakhs. Scholarship is given to students who score top ranks in the VITEEE examinations.

Campus Life

3.5

We have a cultural fest called vibrance and a technical fest called technovit in vellore institute of technology, chennai. Like i said before, there is alot of clubs in this campus and each club host multiple events, workshops, etc, during these fests. Attending these fests help you enhance your knowledge and skills in a certain topic, and some events is just alot of FUN with friends. Club involving enhances your social networking and makes you learn new things. Library has ALOT of books ,AND ITS AIRCONDITIONED!!

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel is much more expensive here in VIT chennai , than in other colleges in India , the total cost for hostel and mess is around 180000 rupees ( that is if you are opting for an Air Conditioned room with four roomates). The room you get in hostel depends on ypur hostel councilling rank which is calculated for each student depending on their grade point averages. The higher your rank, the more chance of you getting your desired room. The food is good depending on the mess you choose, but some students have been prone to food poisoning.

Admission

The admission process undergoes the following steps, first you fill a form with your details on the vit website and then sit for the viteee exam. After that your rank will be sent to you in mail , depending on your rank , the councilling will be scheduled . Ranks 1 to 20000 will have round 1 , 20000 to 45000 will have round 2 , and it goes on. The councilling is done for all 4 campuses at the same time. THERE IS NO SEAT RESERVATION IN VIT. Registration fee for sitting for councilling is 5000 rupees. After you are allotted a seat, you have to pay a part of the amount before the counclling for the next round.

Faculty

3.5

The good part of the fully flexible credit system is that the faculty you get is selected by you. So , your learning experience is in your hands, you are the one creating and building your college life here. In one class the ratio is usually 1:60 , which fluctuates depending on the demand of your chosen faculty. Interacting with them depends on their personality , if they are calm and approachable it will be easy for you to clear your doubts and queries , else its gonna be really hard. Some teachers use power point presentation's to teach and some dont.

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

This course did not offer what i wanted to study , that is robotics. VIT vellore campus does not offer computer science engineering with specialization in AI and robotics, hence i opted for chennai campus.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
