Likes
- Every month we have lab internals and this I feel is the best thing as our final exams gets reduced in terms of percentage and therefore the burden is less.
- Commuting is so easy as the college is located in the heart of the city. Main areas like Koramngla, MG road and etc are just 10-15 mins away from the college.
- The college has many clubs and they help commendably in building network.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure wise the college building is all that we have as there is not much area for students to go around and chill.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since the inception of AI, even mechanical engineering has gone into transformation and therefore syallabus too have exploded. Cars and Planes were the toys I used to play with in my childhood and therefore I choose mechanical engineering as I want to play a role in building and repairing them. Every month we have lab internals and finals at the end of every semester.
Placement Experience
Mechanical students have to do industrial projects in every semester and top PSUs like HAL, Bhel, BEL, and others hired student once they come in their final year. Highest placements for CS and other branches were around 40 lakhs but for Mechanical the highest placement was of 24 lakhs and average boils down to 750000.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is very low as BIT has some of the best placements. I am from Bangalore and therefore I used college bus and there was no extra fees charged for that. Scholarships are also there like I got 30% scholarship under minority scholarship and likewise many students availed the scholarships they were applicable for.
Campus Life
Manthan is our annual cultural fest and all departments student come on same stage to celebrate the annual fest. It's a tough competition as every department gives their best and the best performers are rewarded too. Not much facilities as the campus is quite small and even the girls hostel of the college is off campus but the admin block is well maintained.
Admission
KCET is mandatory for VTU colleges or for that matter any top engineering colleges of Karnataka. One has to be among top 25k rank to get admissions here. Reserved category got admissions till ranked 70 thousand and I also availed that benefit. The admission department is at the ground floor of the admin block and it took one day for admissions to get confirmed after KCET results were out.
Faculty
Mechanical engineering means more practicals and our faculties were therefore too strict. However, I will have to say that out of 65 there are 62 boys and just 3 girls still we were never discriminated by our faculties. I don't think I can thank my professors enough for that.
