NIT Jalandhar: A Students Perspective

Since this is the era of digitalization and technical advancement, a degree on Computer Science is much valuable. This course focuses more on Programming Languages, Coputer algorithm and Architecture, Data Algorithm and its Analysis. NIT Jalandhar provides you with various Labs which improves your practical Knowledge about Computer Technology and its mechanism. Professors provide us with necessary practical skills and fundamental knowledge to succeed in this field. Talking about our evaluation, we will be having 2 exams in a sem which consists of 80 marks. Mid-semester Examination for 30 marks and End semester Examination for 50 marks. The remaing 20 marks are provided on the continuous evaluation throughout the semester by quizes,assigments,etc

Students are offered interships from different fields by different companies. Popular companies which offer interships are Reliance, Microsoft, Google, Unstop, Amazon, Oracle,etc. Reliance offer intership for textile department and average Stipend is 15,000 per month for 2-4 months. Other companies offer Interships in fields like Data Analysis, Python Development, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics,etc. the average Stipend in these fields are around 25,000-30,000 per month If the Students perform well in the internship projects ther are offered pre-placement offers with an average package of 20 lakhs per annum. Student learn about the corporate world and the functioning of the organisation throught these Internships

Placements in NIT Jalandhar is above average and it was steady throughout the years. The highest package of NIT Jandhar was of 1.2Cr per annum offered in 2022 by an International Firm in Ireland. The average package ranges from 17-20 Lakhs per annum for branches like CSE,IT,ECE,EE and 14-16 Lakhs for branches like BT,ME,CE,IPE,etc. The companies that come for placements are Reliance, Oracle, Deloitte, Microsoft, Nvdia, Paypal , Atlassian, BHEL, Cisco systems,etc. Students are offered internships from 3rd semesters and by the time they reach 7th semester they are given pre-placements offers. The placement percentage of students in NIT Jalandhar is 79% and almost more than 50% of the students are get double offers [offers from 2 companies].

The fee structure varies depending on your Financial status, Category, whether you are a hosteller or a dayscholar. 1.for Students of Category SC/ST and PWD, the total fee for 4 years is 2.1 lakh [for hosteller] and 1.4 Lakh [for dayscholars]. 2.For GEN/OBC category with income below 1lakh, total fee for 4years is 2.1 lakh[for hostellers] and 1.4 lank [for dayscholars]. 3.For GEN/OBC category with income below 5lakh, fee for 4years is 3.75 Lakh[for hostellers] and 3.07 Lakh [for dayscholars]. 4.For GEN/OBC category with income above 5lakh, fee for 4years is 7.09 Lakh [for hostellers] and 6.41 lakh [for dayscholars]. There are various Scholarships programms that are available for SC/ST, PWD and EWS students and the amount of scholarship range from 25,000 to 1.5 lakhs which incldues programs from both on campus and off campus. There will be a 25% off on your fee for next year if you are the class topper for the present year and an additional bonus of 10,000 for batch topper.

The overall experience of mine in college is filled with joyful memories and new adventures. it was a total new world for me compared to school life, had alots of fun in fest and programs. NIT Jalandhar has 2 annual fests, UTKANSH [Cultural fest] and TECHNITY [Technical fest] and other fest include Athletic Fest, Sports Meet and many other individual competitions of Dance, Music, Drama, Art,etc. You will find every club of your interest starting from Dance to Debate, Art to Athletics. Few popular Clubs of NIT Jalandhar Atheletics, Sports, Dance, Music, Arts, Photography, Literacy,Robotics. When we talk about academics and resources, NIT Jalandhar provides vast variety of books from different subjects and topics. we have a Central Library to read and rent a book. All the classes and Lecture halls have AC [Centralised AC] and a projector. Institute conducts many extra curricular activites like TED talks, Seminars, Motivational Speeches, Industry workshops.

Hostel Allotment is an Online process where you need to pay Hostel Fees and select Hostel and respective room. 1st years have 4 Accommodation Rooms, 2nd years have 2 accommodation rooms, while 3rd and 4th Years have single occupancy rooms. 1st years have different hostels where as 2,3,4 years have combined hostels called Mega Boys/Girls Hostel. Fee for Hostel is 25000 per semester which include 17500 of mess fee. Hostel room has an Cupboard for every student,desk,chair and a shelf. You need to bring your own mattress while bed is provided by them. Hostel provide a Water Filter and a Washing machine for 2 Floors. Hostel has a Reading room, Common room, Badminton court, Volley ball court for students. When we talk about mess food, It varies depending on the hostel and the Mess Committee formed which decides the food to be served every day. Although they ask students opinon they set the mess menu so that Diet rate is maintained. The food in hostels are good and have different varieties.

In order to get into NIT Jalandhar you need to write JEE Mains and need to secure a percentile of above 95%ile for GEN category. for Computer Science the cut-off rank was around 98.9%ile which is 13,000 AIR Gen rank.The difficulty of the exam was medium and you need to have knowledge on Mathematics,Physics and Chemisty to write this exam, And after that whole of the Admission process was online and it was through JOSSA i got admission in NIT Jalandhar. I got NIT Jalandhar Computer Science in my 2 round of JOSSA and paid 40,000 as seat acceptance fee. After the completion of allotment 36000 was paid as registration fee. Rest of the process of admission like Documents verification, Entering Details, Hostel Allotment happened in NIT Jalandhar website and it was a smooth and steady process. I was alloted a day for offline Verification of my certificates [August 16]. since I come under the category of GEN EWS, i got a reduction in fee. All of the admission process was properly planned.

Most of the Faculties have Degrees from well reputed Colleges around India and few have from Foreign Institutes too. Everyone have different teaching techniques and they use smart board sometimes for teaching. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:40 as one teacher sometimes teach 2 branches.. Teachers respond to our online messages and are ready to solve our doubts during their free time. Additional to teaching about academics they even motivate us about the opportunities that we get during our B.Tech and also the difficulties.. They even act as mentors too during our bad times.
