Likes
- VNIT is a green campus with fresh and pure air. I joined my B.Tech in EEE in 2020, but due to corona i had to spend by 2 years of my college life in home. I entered the campus in 2022. There are people coming from different states.
- I made many friends through academics and sports. We have done many things and made memories which will remain with us for the remaining part of our lives. The facilities in VNIT are OK. We have digital classrooms in every department.
- The overall faculty in EEE was good. Some of the lecturers were exceptional. They timely provide advices on career and life too. The infrastructure of VNIT is very good with excellent amenities and learning facilities.
Dislikes
- The sports equipment is not upto the mark. They don't even have good cricket bats and balls.
- The mess food is a big problem here in VNIT. The food is not tasty and we used to pay mess fee because it is combined with hostel fee and mandatory, but we used to eat daily outside.
- Some lecturers does not teach anything instead read the ppts and go. Some lecturers have ample amount of knowledge but does not possess teaching skills and techniques which fails in making the subject interesting to student.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well structured with all the relevant subjects and thier applications. There will be a department wise course book which comprises of all the courses in every semester, each subject syllabus, course outcomes and many more. The course is designed is such a way that student not only gains theoretical knowledge but also practical applications. It covers right from Basics of Electrical engineering to Advanced Power electronics providing vast diversity in subject depth.
Internships Opportunities
1. Application Engineering intern at GOOGLE offered a stipend of ?94k per month. 2. Systems Engineer at DE SHAW INDIA offered a stipend of ?1.5 lakh per month. 3. Project Intern at ORACLE INDIA offered a stipend of ?1 lakh per month. These are some of the major companies offering interships. Others companies include Axxela research, wells fargo, Goldman Sachs, Mathworks, Natwest, Amazon, BNY mellon, Hilti, trilogy innovations, Axis Bank and many more.
Placement Experience
The students will be eligible for internships from 5th semester and placement from 7th semester. Some of the big companies like Oracle, DE Shaw, John deer, Wells fargo, CITI Bank, and many more visit the campus every year. The placement percentage in EEE was approximately 80%. Some of them opt for higher studies in India and foreign countries. The highest package offered in 2024 was 64 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee ranges from Rs. 66850 to Rs. 68000 per semester. It doesn't go beyond this range. One can complete B.Tech in VNIT with approximately Rs. 900000. The biggest advantage for economically weak students is that if they provide income certificate and if the income is less than 1 lakh, then they will get complete tution fee waiver. If the income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakhs, then there will be a concession of 75% of tution fee. There is no tution fee for SC/ST students. The students will also get various scholarships from government and private organisations.
Campus Life
The campus life in VNIT is exceptional with some of the fests in college like AAROHI AND AXIS which are the largest fests in central india. Every cultural festivals like UGADI, SANKRANTI, and ONAM will be celebrated by students in a grand way. The library of VNIT is vast with huge collection of books, journals, and magazines of various genres. The clubs of VNIT has special mention with their extraordinary work towards society.
Admission
Like other NITs, If anyone wants admission in VNIT, they have to clear Jee Mains exam. Upon securing rank in Jee mains one has to start the admission procedure in Joint seat allocation authority(JOSAA). Everyone has to fill choices in their preference order. Then they will be allotted NITs, IITs, IIITs, and GFTIs based on thier rank. The reserved benefits will be same as like other exams and the extent of reservation vary every year.
Faculty
The total count of the faculty in our department is 35-40 and total students are approximately 480. So, the faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 12. The faculty in EEE were supportive to the students and they are available at any time to clarify any doubts regarding academics and they also provide guidance and mentorship in career and life too. We often talk with teachers and they are friendly to us.
