Likes
- Great ambience, Good infrastructure with Smart board and Ac feature in the class
- Spacious cafeteria with variety of soft drinks, snacks,chips, chocolates and biscuits. Students can also opt out for meals like pulao, parantha etc
- Huge field available for sports, beautiful plants with blooming flowers in the department area.
Dislikes
- The labs are sheer disappointment as there is no proper care of the chemicals, the exhaust works slowly.
- There is no assurance of getting desired chemicals as they mostly run out of use.
- The water taps do not work properly,there is great difficulty in getting water in the lab. Although there are taps outside for drinking purpose.
Course Curriculum Overview
Chemistry being a pretty tough subject took my attention to compete in real world. Also, the fees of this course is quite pocket friendly as it's only 5.5k/semester. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications by organising certain programmes in the conference hall, with chief guests who are alumni of this Department and are currently doing great worldwide.They also give us the chance to interact and ask any questions regarding the real world. Certain improvements that this dept needs is the proper maintenance of lab, decent physical chemistry teachers, and proper care of chemicals. The exam timings are quite hectic as they conduct final exams quite earlier than the actual Semester ending and we particularly get 3months in total.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is fee waiver scheme for students belonging from lower section of society which gives them financial aid and they only pay Rs. 345/- per semester. Also there are various scholarships available in Assam for specific needs.
Campus Life
There are frequent freshers and farewell programmes. Annual fest is conducted in the auditorium, following by dj/ artist nights where they perform singing or dancing. Overall, fest and events are of great experiences in this college. There is an annual sports festival and participants get their trophies followed by certificates.
Admission
Eligibility criteria is through CUET examination and merit system which requires atleast 75% in their respective 10+2 examination. The CUET examination is conducted by NTA and the domain should include chemistry, the candidate should obtain the required cutoff marks as asked by the college .
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:3, Although the professors are great. Our HOD holds gold medal in Inorganic chemistry. Organic teachers are overall great ,their teachings are crisp and clear with Practicals. The faculties are great with their teachings and ensures every students get effective teaching under their mentorship. The teachers are very friendly and we can interact with them every now and then. They solve the doubts quite often and expect us to understand everything within the class.
