- very high on events- there are gonna be departmental fests throughout the year along with some flagship fest , for cultural programs there is sunset jam , bonfire night
- The mass engagement and socialization , you are bound to work on these events for credits , trust me you get more than that , you meet people from all departments connect, network and even make friends
Dislikes
- The strict attendance structure, well its not that bad , 75% mandatory under that there is condonation fees .
- Not all rooms are air conditioned,tho most rooms above 2nd floor are but you wont get ac rooms in your 1st year ,unless you are mass com or multimedia
Course Curriculum Overview
The English Hons course from 2023 onwards under NEP is a four years course. The course structure will have major papers in literature , a minor paper (socio ,his ,eco ,film studies ,etc.) along with two multi-disciplinary subjects where the students are given the option to pick from the courses offered by other departments like biology, physics, journalism, etc. For English the course is sufficient to keep you busy, its not that tough but if it was easy everybody would be doing it . The professors are amazing and supportive , and it will be a joyride along with them .
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees for my course roughly sums up to to 70k. So the payment structure of a semester is two installments. During admission along with the admission charges you will pay the 1st semester's 1st installment. The whole process is fully digitalized. There is financial aid from Christian students and students in need. Regarding internships and campus employment, it is mandatory to get complete an internship within your second year under NEP.
Campus Life
Annual flagship event Xavotsav is the biggest highlight of all the fests happens in 1st week of February with celebrity appearances. There can be fests throughout the year. All the societies and departments have their individual fests. The library is vastly filled with books ranging in all disciplines, library is open even on college holidays and runs from 9 in the morning to 6 in the evening. Participation in NSS will take care of your social credits. There are gonna be sports days, a major event in that is XPL . You are just gonna be surrounded with opportunities to interact and get out of your comfort zone
Hostel Facilities
College Hostel is about 15 mins walk from hostel. They rooms are provided with an individual bed and study table along with a shelf shared by the roommates. There is a curfew of 5:30 on weekdays and 7:30 on weekends. The wardens are strict but understanding. There is a study room open 24/7 and a separate ironing room with timing to access.You can do you own laundry or give it to Dhobi bhaiya who comes everyday . The hostel is the most affordable option in that area where you pay 8k per month for food and accommodation. There are yearly hikes. Food menu is curated depending on days but on Wednesdays we have ice-cream. Hostel also conducts multiple events with COFRADIA being its flagship event where its an hostel inclusive multidisciplinary competition from sports ,music,literature ending with a feast. No you wont have a washing machine or access to fridge nor an Ac in your room but in the end it ll all become memories you ll wanna relive.
Admission
The application process will be fully online. Application forms are out right after 12th results ,on the college website. The form was 500 rupees during my admission. There are reservation benefits available. for sports, minority, Christian , and specially-abled students.
Faculty
For English dept the faculty is very well versed in their craft , very professional and they own up to it . They are pretty approachable and appreciative of the effort. Always adamant on guiding their students.
