MBA journey at IIM Visakhapatnam

Marketing and Finance specific subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. This curriculum prepares you for real-world through practical learnings, industry integrations, field visits and entrepreneurial support. Areas of improvement can be in course curriculum by including more recent case studies to understand current industry and focus should be increased on simulations. Mid sem and end sem exams are being conducted every trimester. 1.5 month gap is available in between every exam. Its not so difficult to go along with these exams.

There are various domain companies like consulting, finance, banking, IT, manufacturing, services which offer internship opportunities with stipend range of 20k to 1.5k. Big 4 , MBB companies also visit campus which help students to built career at their best. Some of the companies also offer PPO.

After 1 trimester i.e. September month, Summer placement starts and it goes on till February and march and same goes with final placement. During final placements, some of the students also get PPO from their internship companies. KPMG, Infosys, EY, PWC are some of the top companies that visit this campus. Highest package for the batch of 2024 was around 42 LPA and average was around 16-17 LPA. Its a recently opened IIM but with the time its placement is getting improved with increment in the alumni base. Placement is also dependent on market condition and batch size.

Fees was around 17 lakh for 2 year course from 2022-24. It is getting increased every year by 8-10 %. Complete cost is around 20 lakh which includes hostel fees and your daily expenses for 2 years. Scholarship is also available. College itself provides scholarship from 10%- 50% on criteria of family requirements. Other scholarships are being provided by Govt. of India and state govts.

New library is under construction will will have capacity of more than 1 lakh books. Comfortable and secure residential facilities are provided with single sharing rooms for everyone. AC is available and Fridge and induction is also available. Various technical and non technical clubs are running by student bodies for overall development of student.

Hostel is mandatory for every student, Best hostel facility is available at campus. Single sharing room with AC , Bed, Almirah. Study lamp and every thing that will be necessary for the 2 years. All hostels have mesmerizing scenic view from their windows. Fridge, Washing machine, Induction , Cloths drying area is available on every floor. Food is good in comparision to other IIMs. Breakfast , lunch, snacks and dinner is being provided and special food on special occasions.

Admission is through CAT exam. On the basis of percentile, Candidate will get shortlisted for the college. Now candidate has to show interest in the course by paying some fees on the college portal and then college will give interview call. After that interview will get conducted and on the performance and overall merit, final seat will be offered. Student has to book that seat within 3-4 workings day by making an initial payment of 50000 rs through college website.

All Faculty members hold PHD degrees from prestigious institutions in India. Faculty to students ratio is around 12:1 which is good enough to teach students. Faculty employ innovative teaching methods like case study, simulations, group projects and experiential learning. Interaction with teachers is quite easy and approachable. Students can directly ask doubts within the class and outside the class after the sessions. Some times faculties also ask students to faculty room to clear doubts and take extra classes for that too. Faculties also come from other institutions like IIM Bangalore, IIM Ranchi to teach specific subjects

Yes, CAT exam is mandatory for getting admission into IIM V. After shortlisting candidates on the basis of CAT score, 10th , 12th and graduation marks and previous experience , College schedule Interview with the candidate. After completion of the process, within 1 month, college announces results and gives waitlisting for remaining candidates. It takes around 1 month to fill all the available seats.
