What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is quite big, very big ground, when you enter you get a map of college, rooms are quite big and new library building looks really nice. College looks so green. One thing which makes it different from other is it’s regular classes
- Regular classes and strict routine of classes. Numbers of professors are okay and they take regular class. Faculties organise time to time culture and educational seminars. And one more thing college canteen is quite good.
- Classes are good, airy with proper lighting and good seating. There are 2 auditoriums one in administrative block and second in new building. Both buildings have been maintained well. And there are guards in every block and on the gates of college.
Dislikes
- First of all this don’t seems like college at all, it’s seems like a school and they ring bell after every hour just like schools. You can’t sit in compound with your friends either you take your class or get of the college, this is thing I dislike
- Secondly the college have a right wing ideological hegemony and they impose it on all sections of class. From administration to the faculty you can notice it in every corner of campus. Pro right wing ideological hegemony and no progressive.
- Administration makes you feel like you are nothing they just play with you if you have any paperwork they will make you run here and there even though that work can be done so easily, students don’t get any time for extra curricular activities
Course Curriculum Overview
I really wanted to know about human civilisation and worlds history. How civilisations took the shape and how we reached at this point where we are standing today. From the very beginning how things got linked to each other and now we can know about these things . The curriculum don't prepare you for real world application as such but if you want to do research or want to peruse phd then you have to be more responsible while choosing this course from this college because we can see the research scholars here , they are like personal assistant of professors. The curriculum should be more practical and teaching method should be more convenient, professors should teach it with some passion and more involvement of students . Our exam is semester based and the beside semesters there are internals , assignment , mid semester and viva and all and in all this you don't have time for any other activity . Exams should be held between propers gaps otherwise you read and write exams not learn.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee hikes are such problems, recently we saw 4times fee hike in Allahabad University and ISDC is it's constituent college so it also got effected from it . I'm paying 9500 for my course and it so much from the view of central university. Last time in 2022 fee hike was implemented. My complete cost of education will be around 25 -30 thousand for 2 years including all service fees and there aren't much charges beside all this. I didn't get any kind of financial aid or scholarship but State Government and central Government provides scholarships but from few years it is not functioning properly. There is no promise of scholarship but if you are lucky you will get one and state government provides return fee you paid around 10000 and I don't know about central government scholarship. I didn't get any stipend or any job roles and I don't think faculty provides any kind of placement.
Campus Life
I don't know any kind of technical festival expect farewells and freshers party. Usually faculties organise different seminars but there aren't any specific annual and technical festivals along with the Month they are held. You can only have one book at a time from college library by submitting you fee receipt and library card. In library you can read different magazines and news papers which are arranged by college but I don't know about any specific journal. Cricket, running marathon and badminton tournament are held by college. There aren't students club but there are various students organisations affiliated from various electoral parties but there is a student organisation named "Disha Students' Organisation" which is independent student org which organise various cultural activities like study circles, poetry sessions, film shows and always stands for students rights no matter how oppressive the university administration is.
Admission
For masters you have to be graduated and the admission is entrance based exam which is held by Allahabad University. The forms can be found on official website after you give entrance exam and results come out the colleges give cut off marks for admission in their colleges and entrance exam fee is around 1000 and counselling fee is around 100-500. The admission process goes through mid April to mid July. All the process is completed by the end of July. Reservations are based as government reservation law. All kind of admission information can be seen on the official website of college. Frequency of exams and timings should be considered because frequency of exams are quite often and you don't get much timing for preparation. Admission process is okay but notifications should be displayed properly on the websites of colleges and the helpline numbers for admission process don't work at all. This should be improved.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is Ohk you don't get to deal with it in masters but in bachelors is quite bad. And in masters there are not many students so you don't have to suffer as such. Few professors are there to help you but they are few in numbers. You can interact with teachers in class if you have any doubts or any questions and most of them answers it. Few professors don't take class due to their extra "responsibilities" but most of them answers and you can approach them in there offices also, there aren't such problems but sometimes ideological differences makes it look so bad because you and your teacher both are on the opposites. Talking about faculties approach towards teaching and mentorship then I don't think they go ahead of teaching anymore mentorship is not much available or supported by teachers or professors.
